From Iowa to Lake Superior
« on: August 04, 2005, 10:48:46 PM »
Here is the road trip land_shark and I have in mind.  We would leave the friday sept. 2nd (over the labor day weekend).  We are thinking the sunday right should be pretty cool.  I've been up there a few times, and always loved driving hw 61 along the lake from Duluth and Split Rock Lighthouse is on our "to visit" list (been there before with my family).  On the way home we are going to visit some friends and family.

if anyone knows of any other cool sites to visit along our route, please let me know!  Thanks

Ah, yes beautiful Lake Superior.  Hopefully you checked out some of the magnificent waterfalls and hiking trails on your Sunday leg of the trip.

I see you found one of those micro machine dump trucks on your trip, too.  :bigok:

Sure did, take a look at the brake calipers on that bad boy.  The cool thing is, its the same technology as a car or bandit for that matter.... just huge'i'fied.

I saw the brake... I was surprised it was a single disc. I would have expected something more like an airliner's brake with multiple stators and rotors and a full-circle caliper.

I didn't even think to look at the brakes on the machine we saw in Sparwood.

Hey great pic`s. Looks like you guys had a good time. Did it get really cold up thar? It did when I was up there in late July last year.
I was heading to Anamosa,IA today. Heading to your neck of the woods. After I pulled my bike from the garage, I heard a crash and I turned around and my bike fell over braking my clutch lever. No problem, I had a spare. Then the guys I work with who I was supposed to ride with never showed up. Then I hit a curb looking to see if this one restaurant was open for breakfest. Dropped my bike again. Never dropped a bike in my life untill today. Then a car ran a red light and almost hit me.
I decided to head back home and hide underneath my blankets for the rest of the day. I guess the Anamosa motorcycle museum can wait untill I get some CHI back in my life.
