J. B's BBQ 'Shack'/Jessup, GA
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it's J.B.s, may be B.J's......
Anyway, this is a small, rustic Shack selling assorted BBQ pork products, on the North side of Jessup, GA, on US 301. Kind of out of the way, but it's worth a stop if you're passing through.....
It's on US 25/US 301, on the north side of Jessup. If you're going South on 301, it's on the left, just before you hit the Truck Bypass, which bears off to the left.
I usually pass through, following US 25, on the way to/from jacksonville. Going north on US 25, it's on your right just as the bypass rejoins US301.
I usually get the large BBQ platter, which is a huge sandwich with lots of good pork, some OK tomato-ey sauce, that's just a touch spicy, a large order of crinkle cut fires, and a 32 oz Sweet Tea......for $5.00, even. They have other stuff.....ribs, chicken, etc.
There are picnic tables outside, under an awning......but no inside seating.
For entertainment, you can stand on the front porch of the shack while waiting for your order, look up at the overhang, and see lots of spiders! (Haven't found any in the food....)
I've stopped there 3-4 times a year for the last 4-5 years, and always look forward to it.
This isn't on a major throughway, although US 301 used to be a major North/South route. Some of you Old Timers may remember Ludowici, GA, the infamous speedtrap of the '60's. It's about 10 miles south of there!
Anyway, this is one of may favorite 'pit stops', whether on the bike, or otherwise. 1/2 mile north is a Shell station, where the gas is as cheap as it is on the Interstate, near Brunswick.
