OK. Here comes another one. Buying the shop manual opens up all sorts of questions. And as I had previously said, shopping for a Yosh replacement slipon for my 06 has so far come up empty handed as the Yosh rep tells me they haven't made it yet. But my shop manual shows an exhaust and air pollution system complete with mini catalytic converter in the can. So, how is this effected with a replacement pipe? Do you leave the air system in there or remove it under penalty of death like the book would have you believe?

Looking at the 06 as closely as possible from just pictures... I see no difference in the bike structurally from the previous models from an exhaust perspective. I'm pretty certain that any '2nd Gen' (2001-2005) exhaust system would fit no problem.

However... Yosh DOES make an aftermarket pipe for your Bandit that's sold in GB....

Nope. Been there, done that. I need a slip on, not an end can. I'm not about to hack my brand new standard can off at the pipe to make that one fit.

Been where and done what?

1. The new Yosh IS a slip-on. Do you really think Suzuki would sell a new end can that would require you to "saw off" your pipe?

2. Any slip-on made for a 2nd Gen (2001-2004) would also work, IMO. (And be a lot cheaper.) I'd just make sure to get a Yosh or Holeshot that comes with the mid-pipe.

Suzuki did slightly change the muffler after '03... but that has no impact on mounting a slip-on... the important part is that the headers are exactly the same.

I've had dealers phoning both The NA distributor and the EU dist. The NA said no and the EU said yes. When the EU was confronted with the NA's answer, he backtracked a bit and said 'Oh, your talking about the North American model. Also, Suzuki lists the stock header as having different part numbers between the 05 and 06 models. If they are the same then why list different header numbers? If your so sure then maybe you should buy them. Me, I'll just wait until somebody says something a little more definate than 'They should fit'. Also, would love to hear from an 06 owner that has actually installed one.

Then the best bet would be to find a local place or internet dealer where you can return it if it doesn't fit. If a 2nd Gen slip-on fits... you'll save a boatload of money. If it doesn't.... I doubt you'll see any new good ones being produced for a motorcycle that's in its last year of production.

The other option would be to find someone local with a 2nd gen aftermarket that you could just 'try on for size'. Additionally... IF the header is different on an '06... the engine & frame are stil the same... so a full system for a 2nd Gen would almost certainly fit.

One thing I can add about part numbers... Suzuki changed the part number for oil filters for the Bandit 3 times in the last 6 years. It's the same filter.

And by the way... I'm trying to help... not sell you an exhaust pipe. Might want to keep that in mind.

See if you can get the NA & EU dist's to tell you what's so different between the '06 NA & '06 UK/EU models' exhaust. I've got no experience with the 3G bikes, but on the 1G & 2G models there's NO differences in the exhaust systems between the various markets. There ARE differences between stock systems between the 1G & 2G and even differences in the 2G's from early bolt-on to the later welded on (like the 600 always has been), but aftermarket slips-ons with mid-pipes will fit both 1G & 2G bikes. Is this still true for the 3G? I don't know.

Given the engine and frame are still the same, there should be no reason why something for a 2G shouldn't fit. I understand not wanting to take a risk by being the first, but if you buy from a dealer that'll take it back if it doesn't fit (and you don't damage it trying), as suggested earlier, you should have little, if any, risk. Maybe a small restocking fee.

Given Canada is the only NA market that gets the '06 B12 and rumors have it the B12 won't see a 2007 model year, it is unlikely any NA exhaust maker will tool up for this bike, so your options are going to be limited to leave it stock, experiment with a 2G set-up or experiment with a set-up for a EU market bike.
