AAARRRGGGHHH!!
« on: July 04, 2005, 02:03:40 PM »
Had a driveway tipover today. Was just leaving home. Damn detour had our normally quiet road full of motorhomes and suv's. Had to stop quick in gravel and when the front suspension rebounded I started to tip, foot slid and over I went. Need some advise on the following.

Best way to clean up Holeshot aluminum can with minor abrasions.

Have some dings and scratches around turnsignal area and upper fairing. Whats the best way to work on these. Should I get some touchup paint and try to work it in or just buff it.

Also need to replace signals but I already have flushmounts I haven't installed yet(glad of that!)

Lastly, I need a brake lever. Will probably replace both levers with black or carbon look levers.

At least I didn't end up under it! Only other marks are on the case guard(not broken) and bar end.

Also bike was flooded when I righted it. After some cranking it started and seemed to run ok. Anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance, Dan.  :duh:  :duh:

P.S. I am now drinking beer and will continue to do so until my sorrows are thoroughly drown.

it's a bear to pickup by yourself huh ?  LOL!  I didn't think I'd make it all the way up when I dropped...  forgot to breathe and saw stars...

If buffing dosn't do the trick...
You can get factory color touchup pens for scratches
at approx $20 from http://www.color-rite.com/

I'm not real sure scratches will come out of the polished aluminum on the can, but you can always try a good aluminum metal polish, maybe it'll buff down a little.  This stuff is awesome http://www.speedpartz.com/magicmix.htm
all you really need is the polish; the extra cleaners listed are overkill unless it's old dirty metal.

Good luck...

I'm guessing by your avatar you have a 2G B12? If so, good luck finding black or carbon (look) levers. If you do, PLEASE post a link.

I know the B6 has a different clutch lever than the 12, not sure about the brakes, and I don't know if the 1G & 2G B6 levers differ at all. Nonetheless, if you find something, let us know.

Are ther any models that share the same lever as the Bandit? Where can I get this info. I found carbon look levers for just about everything else but the Bandit. I guess if you really wanted them you could swap out the entire assembly but thats more than I want to get into. Still looking.

Not sure... you could always do some research on the parts catalogs at Ron Ayers.

Holeshot's levers don't fit the 600 or 2001+ 1200.
http://www.holeshot.com/parts/bandit/carbon_levers
So that's a no go.

But apparently, Banditmania does for 2G 1200's according to their website... , like Paul said I'm not sure if the 600 and 2G1200's are the same.
http://www.banditmania.co.uk/

And they do have an ebay store for orders worldwide.
Here's the lever:

The 2G B12 & B6 use the same front brake lever (Suzuki P/N 57300-33E01), but since the B6 is a cable clutch and the B12 hydraulic, the clutch levers are different.

These levers are different from the 1G B6 & 12 (Suzuki P/N 57300-40C10).

Yeah, after some digging at Ron Ayers, I found some other bikes like the SV that use the same lever. Just gonna take some more digging to find the right levers. If it gets to be too much of a PITA, I'll just go with an aftermarket replacement part.

I bought a set of levers that say they are for a 2001+ B12 from a guy off ebay. Didn't quite pay enough attention to realize that the clutch lever won't work. The brake lever appears to be the same though. I also found a few sets from bandit mania and www.justbandits.com, but nothing from within the states.

I ended up getting a pair of levers from bandit mania's ebay store so I have a pair left over that will fit at least a 1G B12. If anyone's interested, let me know.

I've bought several items from The Suzuki Shop on ebay.  They have a section specifically for Bandits and, thus far, everything I've gotten from them bolts up perfectly...Good for levers, bar ends, accessory-type stuff.  The only thing I'd say is, pay attention to the year models, which are usually buried in the product description.  By the way, they DO have a set of carbon fiber levers for 2G 12 Bandits (or so they say.)
