Exhaust
« on: October 06, 2005, 02:40:29 PM »
I just bought my 2000 B600 and the guy I bought it from had a D&D exhaust on it. Way too loud for my taste so I wanted to go back to stock. Someone posted a stock exhaust for a 1st gen B12. Does anyone know if it will fit? Or whats a good quiet slip on? I don't really need to scare dogs and small children.
Thanks  John

Not sure if the 1G's OEM muffler mount flange is in the same place as your 2G B6. That would be the only hangup. Any AFTERMARKET B12 system will fit any B6, and I know a 1G B12 system will fit a 1G B6 and a 2G B12 system will fit a 2G B6, just not sure if the OEM mufflers will swap cross generation.

I have my stock exhaust for my 02 B6 that would fit. Honestly, if I were you I'd go for aftermarket. You can't believe the weight difference til you feel it. Also, if its been jetted, you may have to rejet when you change exhaust. If you want stock make me an offer. Its in perfect condition and collecting dust unless I decide to swap bikes.

Good point. The best solution is to just put on a quieter aftermarket can - and just about anything is quieter than a D&D. One of Yoshimura's Zyclone series cans, or one of Holeshot's "Street" cans are freindliest to the ears, short of the heavy stocker.

The Vance and Hines can is pretty quiet, and is way lighter than stock. I like mine it is quiet unless you really get on it then it sounds good but still not scary loud like a d&d.

I am currently running a D&D on my 12... its slowly getting louder and louder.. its pretty quiet when idling, but man, it gets LOUD when i open it up...

I know this doesn't help... but I remember 'back in the day'... one of the motorcyle magazine editors did a column about his friend "Mel T. Down" who had a modified exhaust that was... quote....

"Loud enough to kill sparrows and stun low-flying ducks".

I'll always remember that line.

LOUD D&D????????????

I DON'T KNOW WHY SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE D&D SYSTEM  BEING LOUD.

I HAVE D&D ON TWO DIFFERENT BIKES (2001 1200 BANDIT & 2001 600 KAWASAKI) AND IT IS STILL QUIETER THAN THE YOSI SYSTEM ON MY NEIGHBORS YAMAHA,  AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER BRANDS OF EXHAUST THAT I HAVE HEARD ON B-12'S.

CHECK EBAY IF YOU WANT A STOCK CAN.  ALSO, YOU CAN PROBABLY FIND MOST ANY OTHER CAN THAT YOU WANT ON EBAY AS WELL.  GOOD LUCK.
