I just got my new 520 EK supersport chian that has white grease all over it. Do need to clean up the new chain like I would regularly do before install?

just wipe off the excess, or it will fly right off when you ride.

how much can you trust a clip on master? They sent me the wrong master link for my chain and I was going to go head and put the chain on to get to the shop to install the rivet master link when send me the right one monday?

Some use a clip type master on B12's without hesitation.
As long as it's designed to work with your make & model of chain, it should be OK.

That said, I don't like 'em. I've been sidelined by them too many times.
I wouldn't use one on my B12... in fact, I'd avoid using them on anything, if possible.

I ran a clip on my last D.I.D. 530VM and put about 20k before it snapped when I was playing around doing wheelies and dumpimg the clutch all kinds. The clip was ok but I had a broken heart. Pushed it three mile at 2am to get to a safe stop to park it.

I hated pushing my piddleyass little Suzuki 80 the half mile or so home from the local trails as a kid when it would chuck the master... I damn sure don't wanna push my B12.
(The Zook 80 wasn't the only bike I ever pushed for that reason though.)

I ran a clip on my B12 and never had any problems. Despite people freaking out every time they saw it.

The clip works fine.
Just make certain it's on the right way around properly seated.
I'll guess the 99% of clip "failures" are due to improper installation.

I guess I was a 1%er on three other bikes then.

Like I said, some people don't have a problem with 'em.
I just like the security of a riveted link.
