Leaky fork-seal.....woohoo banditalley is back!!!!!

YES!!!! banditalley is back on track!!!

this is my #1 place for tips and tricks on fixing my bike...so I was very sad when it went down for a while T_T

however, it's back and I have a minor problem...hopefully someone can offer me a tip on how to fix leaky fork-seal the easy way....by that I mean the business card trick where you somehow get the card deep enough into the seal and left out all the dirt so that the leak is not so bad anymore...i ride a 91' B4

or do I have to redo my fork-seal? T_T?

also...is there an easy way to lube up my clutch line...my clutch hand feels like they're gonna break after a long ride...

I've been riding my B4 for a month now, and boy do I love the feeling of shifting the gear (I've only gone up to 4th gear...but it was enough to make me smile >:), ripping through the wind, and riding around the city XD

Hi hua

You may still have to do the seal, but instead of a business card ( I'd be concerned about wet paper being left behind and making the problem worse) try a strip of 35mm film.  A lot of photo places will give you some of the ends if they have them. (As a photographer, I have an endless supply of all different sizes of film for our bikes.)

That's the method that the other half uses for the dirtbikes, and I'm about to do the same with Dita when she gets home.  (He's riding her to work daily now.  The same guy that said he didn't want to ride on the road a few months ago.    I think I might be a bad influence.)

After you fix your fork seals, install a a pair of fork protectors to cover the fork legs so they don't get pinged with rocks any more. Check your forks where they dive into the lower legs just above the fork seals. I bet you find rock dents. These MUST be filed smooth and polished with crocus
cloth or the new seals will go bad very quickly. Also rip up some fabric strips about 1/2" wide and after prying up the rubber dust cap on each leg, loosely wind the TWISTED fabric strips around the fork tubes and soak them with "3-in1" household oil. Press the dust seals back down until they snap into place on the top of each lower leg. This will keep water and dirt out of your forks a lot more effectively than before.

I used a full bottle on mine.  I left in in there long enough to clean the carbs (3 days) then went on a ride to burn some fuel off.  I then topped off with fresh fuel to dilute what was in there.  I imagine at full strength left long enough it might start to eat more than it should.  It does come in a plastic bottle so its not that strong.
