Having been, never the one to take, what is said by experts, as gospel, I have once again taken another ¼ inch dia, out of my midpipe on the ZRX
Having previously taken just under ½ inch Dia out from the standard dual skinned mid pipe.
Wow, with out changing any jetting, from what I considered a huge advantage over the standard pipe and muffler. Yes WOW, from a pretty good performer, to a barnstorming tyre ripping mother F----R.
2nd gear rolling on, through roundabouts, into the midrange gently, short shift into 3rd and slam the throttle to its stop, ooophs, she bucks she weaves, and she leaves big black lines behind just to mark where she once has been. Now this bitch really does have an attitude problem. One draw back to some, with this mod, is it now makes even more noise, due to the increased speed of the exhaust pulses through the pipe.
I’m finding this black duck is taking a liking to regular unleaded, instead of until now a strict diet of premium. Loss of top end, after a 2 hour ride through the ranges today, I can honestly say, if there is a loss in the topend I shore as hell didn’t notice it, and lest face it in the real world, how often do we get to use the topend on litre plus bikes? But I can tell ya that the bottom end and midrange, has changed and not just a wee little bit either, the whole character of the bike has changed from 1 thou rpm, all the way through to 8 thou where I found myself shifting because I was already doing license loss speeds in the 1st 2 gears. Even unnerved Bandit (the dog) sitting on the tank, he is quite happy to sit there even when I’m being a little naughty and playing hard on the tight and twisty stuff. Anyway he had a hard time staying put on the tank, with the extra torque that the Z now has.
Now back to the drawing board for MK 111.
