For those seeking Pilot Road 2CT's
« on: August 11, 2009, 11:01:20 PM »
OK,

Need new tires, decided on the Michelin Pilot Road 2CT's.  Since I did all the research and will be putting these on myself, I thought others might also benefit from the research.  :thumb:

I put a price list together of 8 different sources.  For the 1250 Bandit (front 120/70ZR17, rear 180/55ZR17), the best price turned out to be STG - Sportbike Track Gear.  Free shipping, the set is $306.98.

The only one cheaper was Motorcycle Superstore ($296.98), but they are out of stock on that size front tire.

Here's the data:

All prices valid as of August 11, 2009

YMMV.

I've had a Road 2 on the rear for a while and absolutely love it.  I haven't had any grip problems and it lasts so long.

Just got back from a 2200-mile trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota.  The injection nubs didn't wear off until about 400 miles.  The tires, after the trip, still look brand-new, no flat spots, even though at least 1500 of those miles were flat and straight.  The grip was outstanding.  Haven't hit any rain yet, but I hear the wet grip is also supposed to be fantastic.  I am running the pressures at 39 front/41 rear, which seems to be great.

I tend to run 34 psi for aggressive riding and 36 psi for cruising rides.

 :thanks: for that list!

FWIW - Dennis Kirk will beat anyone's advertised price (with shipping) on tires by $1 (per tire).  I've never had a problem with them being out of stock with what I've wanted, tire wise.  (They've never been a low price leader on tires, either, but the guarantee makes it so.)
... so you should have been able to get the PR2's for as low as $294.98.  :trustme:

That isn't a bad price then.  I paid $200 for the rear tire alone.
