Got ready to strip more of the bike today, and as I've read in a few posts the bar ends are a little on the stuck side... I know eventually I'd get them out but wondering if any of you have a trick for doing this?

Just don't remove the screw all the way! Just loosen it and wiggle, don't be afraid to wiggle too hard. If it's stubborn, you can try spraying a lube in there.

Use a #3 phillips head bit in a hand impact driver. Mine came out easily after breaking them loose with the driver this weekend when I changed grips. Since they had loctite, I reinstalled with loctite (blue). Make sure you clean the thread on the screws before applying the fresh loctite. If you had someone install the screws with red loctite (permanent) this would be kind of problematic as the screws are very long and skinny for this type purpose (they are normally short 8mm screws rather than the long/skinny 6mm). You might try heating them with a good soldering iron or removing the grips FIRST then hitting them with a propane torch to loosen up the loctite but I am not sure it would do much good due to the screw length.

When all else fails, I remove the screw and barend weight, take a very small steel rod that I have, don't know where I got it or what it was before, slide the rod between the handelbar & the rubber sleave, to break the suction, I bent one end of the rod down, slide it into the hole that the screw was in, and pull, and cuss until it comes out. Take a telescopic magnet and fish the nut out of the handlebars.

I used a propane torch to warm the bars. The rubber that holds the ends in gets slippery and out they fall. Just loosen the screw a little first.
