New Clutch in 600S

Well Ive done the deal.
As you may have read in my last post my 2001 GSF600S was purchased with 3k miles in the clock, formerly student owned.
At 4 k miles I installed mobile one full sythetic 15w-50.
At 5k my clutch began slipping under hard acceleration.

I purchased the EBC metal impregnated fiber discs.
I got stock suzuki metal replacement discs.
I also got the EBC 10% over stock spring pressure springs.

Installation was ridiculously easy, followed my haynes to the T.

Pulls like a raped ape!

Went back to dino oil 20w-50 for Atlanta summer.

The stock metals were good colored, the stock fibers were slightly worn but not all glazed out, CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT SLIPPED?

Everything was adjusted, cleaned release mechanism, I am happy with my new parts but dont know why I had a problem?!?!

Maybe just the springs? Did you measure the free length of the old ones? It's possible that they were sacked?

Maybe it just needed a couple of good runs and another oil change to clean things up.

Glad to hear that the new clutch went in with no problems.

B6 clutch

FWIW, I had a similar experience.  I did not replace the steel plates, but did replace the fibers and the springs (+10%) - noticed a huge difference in power, mainly because it hooked up everywhere.  The old plates were fine in appearance - I even tried to sand them once...also added washers to the original springs to increase the compression...nothing worked but the new kit.

Can I ask you where you got your parts and how much did they cost? Did the springs make the lever stiffer? I too get slipping under hard acceleration at high revs. Some times I think its my hand on the lever but maybe not! Only slips at high revs under hard acceleration not any other time.

I got my EBC parts from Chapparal online, they are a huge online supply house for dirt, street, atv and cruisers.

EBC sells kevlar paper fiber discs that are for 600 katana that are exactly the same as ours (check part numbers)
or factory type cork fiber discs but impregnated with aluminum.
The standard fiber disc set (8 discs) is $53 and change
The Kevlar is $73 and change
The springs (6) are $6 and change

You need a new side cover gasket $6 and your going to drain the oil might as well due a full change.
Used the haynes manual but dont really need it, the job is so easy.

Im a big guy, 275 pounds dressed out and I like to twist that throttle, the new clutch is AMAZING, did 100 miles last night!
