engine heat
« on: June 04, 2005, 05:51:14 PM »
I purchased my 600 a month ago and have a stupid question. After riding today I noticed that my lower covers were extremly hot. Is this normal for an air cooled engine or do I have a problem?

As long as the oil level is OK, the oil filter is OK, and the quality of the OIL is ok, there shouldn't be a problem.

Particularily in summer, in the south, the engine gets pretty warm.
If you 'lug' the engine, or get stuck in stop and go traffic, you can really feel the heat with your legs.
