front sprocket 15 to 14

what kind of affect will I get by dropping one tooth up front other than adde torque?  I heard it will throw off the true reading of my speedo, so should I expect?

It'll mean your speedo is reading faster than you're actually going, good for avoiding tickets (maybe not) :)
there's an excel sheet knocking around with a gear ratio calculator.

(found it)
http://www.suzuki1200bandit.com/My_Bandit/Gear_Ratios/bandit95.xls

you can change values for the number of teeth on the front and rear sprockets and it'll spit back your new ratios.

It's the same as going up a few teeth in the rear.

Just like shifting to a lower gear on a bicycle.  The engine spins higher at a given gear/mph and thus has more leverage.   That is, it feels like you got more power.  It'll be a little quicker but you'll also shift more.

I'd did the rear sprocket, not the front... for several reasons.

Given where you live, you'll like that mod for sure.

keep in mind manny I'm running a 600!  So should I just bump two teeth in the rear or go with one lower up  front leave it at that?

Three more on the rear is the same as one less on the front.
I just want two up on the rear and it gave me better wheelies in 1st and 2nd.
Cut my freeway speed down on the top but faster getting there.
I do alot of stop and go so its fun for me.
Its ezer to go down one in the front but harder on the chain, most do this.
530 chain are recomended 15 teeth at the smallest, but alot of riders run 14 no problems.
You won't have to change number of links changing from 15 to 14 and its ez to change back if you want to for long rides.
I have a 50 on the back and it looks like the chain guard just barely fits.
I don't think a 51 would fit under the stock guard, on a 96B6 anyway.
1st gear wheelies with twist of the wrist no clutching dumping needed.

It is preferable to change the rear to a larger than the front to a smaller.
Go with an Aluminum rear sprocket from www.Vortexracing.com
They are significantly lighter and last just fine.
I had 6000 miles on my aluminum Vortex rear sprocket on my B12 and there was no sign of wear.

On a B6, the effect of going one tooth down is that, accelaration is much improved. Your get to your desired speed faster. It actually makes a B6 get up and go.

Of all the mods I've put into my B6, this is probably the most bang for the buck one. The 14T countershaft sprocket only costs ~$16, and about three hours of my time. The hardest part was breaking the countershaft sprocket free. I don't quite remember, but I think it was 125ft-lbs?

The down side is that the vibes are higher at all ranges, so you need to counter act it at the handlebars by dampening the vibes (Barsnake and/or gel grips). Also you loose your maximum top end speed.
It's good to be free!

I prefer going up on the back sprocket 2 or 3 teeth. If you go down on the front and have allot of torque, you could have the chain jump off the sprocket and tear up cases or even your leg..... FL

On a stock motor it should be ok...... FL

In case you didn't know, Bandit speedos don't read accurately from the factory anyhoo. Why? is one of the great mysteries of life.

Back in the day with my '89 ZX-10, I went from a stock 48 tooth rear to a 50. Whoa what a difference. I might be one tooth off but it's all the same.

Of  course that bike had a 6 speed, but man I really loved it. Could bang the rev limiter in 6th (yes, that's hauling balls). Ahh what a great bike. Who knows, someday might re-tooth the rear of my Bandit but before I do that I'm gonna hit up Holeshot for some goodies.

I tried many different tooth combinations on my 2002 B-12 and did not like any. The bandit is geared perfectly stock. Anything I tried made it rev too high at highway speeds, to tollerate for any type of distance.

The drop in teeth on your front sproket will affect Speedo calibration considerably on a 2nd Gen bandit (Not 1st gen as speedo runs off your front wheel) You can buy a set-up tha corrects the speedo.

I had 2 up teeth on my b12.  I had to go back to stock because I had a chain around and couldn't afford a new one.  Anyways, after rockin n rollin this weekend, I really miss my 2 up in the rear! :taz:  I normally leave it in fourth and it just didn't have the pull coming out of the turns.  I put it in 3rd and it didn't feel right either.  I may go one down in the front as a temp until I can get my last setup back up.
