I have replaced a bunch of crankshafts, if 1 journal is bad, you can have it fixed, if more than 1 is bad, you can buy a new crank for what it cost to fix the old crank.
The crank will have each main bearing marked with (A, B, or C), the case will have ( A or B ), with these letters you get a color code for the bearing, green, black, brown, or yellow, that is how you order the right bearing. It is explained pertty well in the manual.
I always send my cranks to APE to be checked for stright and magnaflux for cracks.
