Front Sprocket oil leak
« on: May 17, 2006, 08:10:32 AM »
I baught a new 05 1200S, the front sprocket was leaking and didn't notice it. i cleaned up the oil on the mid stand and the kickstand like it was road grime. My clutch went out, I couldn't believe it. So the shop couldn't find anything and I paid the 400.00 for a new clutch. Second time around, I noticed the oil level low, and burnt. I didn't wash the bike, just took it back, they found the leak and is going to use my warranty to fix it. Am I wrong in wanting my 400.00 back for the first time they didn't see the leak, telling me I smoked the clutch? Has anyone wrote Suzuzki with a problem, what was the result?  :stickpoke:

How many miles were on the bike when this happened? You were kinds easy to give up your $$ for a clutch job when the Bandit is known for clutches to last past 60k miles! Unless dragged or syn oil of wrong type is used! What oil do you use?  :?:

You should at least try. You've got nothing to loose and $400 to gain.

Like any vehicle mfr, don't expect them to roll over. Expect to fight for what is right. If it does work out easy, you can be grateful. They'll probably say something like the clutch was your fault for not keeping a close enough eye on the oil level, even if the oil went down because of their error.

First time they didn't know what caused it, they just blamed me, this time they saw the oil leak, cause I didn't wash it. Turned oout to be the front sprocket seal. I shouldn't have cleaned it last time, my bust.

Man am i post HO'en this "A" !!!  OK there is a problem with the main shaft in the trans of your bike!!! Never been known for the primary spk to leak! also causing the clutch not to engage, slip, & smoke the disc's! Did you notice any ? have you rode other bandit's, zukster's? And i bet you could find a stealer that gave service like you get here!!!! Ok maybe "not":beers:  :beers:  :beers:    :bigok:

When I took it in this time, everything was riding fine, except for the leak, the clutch was fine. I believe I caught it before it started to affect the clutch again. Past bikes I had where a 99 Bandit and a 02 Intruder. older vmax, older Honda Sabre.

Ok you know your stuff! Good luck getting your $ back! Like getting a refund from a crack HO after saying it wasn't worth it! Any way hope they fix what caused this in the first place! They knew no one could smoke a Bandit clutch in 4400 miles even if they tried!!!!   :beers:
