Getting my wifes bike lower
« on: March 02, 2006, 03:12:55 PM »
My wife has a kawasaki ex500 and she is about 5'1 I screwed the rear shock all the way down and lowered the back but I  can't get the front lower because the clipons mount directly over forks so I can't slide them up into the tripple clamp any advice on how I can get the front down. Tired of replacing clutch and brake levers.
Avoid busting on a mans bike and his wife and u can avoid the dentist a little longer.

I  could be mistaken,  but I think the EX500 has handlebars that bolt to the top triple clamp, not "clip ons" that connect directly to the fork tubes...

Your options are:
#1 - purchase some bar risers. These are small spacers that fit between the bars and the triple clamps to raise the bars slightly. This will then let you slide the tubes up in the triple clamps a little farther.

#2 - change the existing handlebars to clipons. If you are raising the tubes far enough, you can mount the clipons above the top triple clamp.

I always thought that handlebars ment 1 piece that goes all the way accross her bike has 2 seperate bars one on each side that bolts onto the triple clamp directly over the forks.  Any idea where I can look 4 those bar-risers because I need 2 get the front of that bike down about 2 inches 2 match the rear it doesn't handle the same since I lowered the rear

GenMar makes risers for your wife's EX500.
Here's the direct link to the EX500 pieces

HeliBars is another popular maker of risers, but I didn't see anything there for the EX500.
