GSF 400 HELP PLEASE
« on: January 21, 2009, 04:26:25 PM »
I have removed the tank and pulled one of the 3 pipes out and cant for the life of me find out where it goes back in . Its only 6 inches long so cant be too far away

the overflow is in place and so is the pipe to the filter on the carbs , so is it the vacuum pipe that ive pulled out? if so where does other end attach to , the manual does not show and i looked for hours now

Welcome.
I have a 1200 but maybe the placement will be close enough to help.
Mine is attached to the 3rd carb from the left near the top.

Good luck

That little tube sounds like the vacuum tube.  It goes from the petcock to the first (far left) carb.

Sorry, this is the first time I reply to a post and I made a mistake minutes ago  I also have a B1200, but i believe PitterB4 is right.  You may also find something interesting (manual or microfiches) for your GSF 400  here: http://blackbears.ru/index_en.php?get=manual (usually they have the manuals in English).   :thumb:

Thanks
do you know of any diagrams or pics for this as the manual is worse than hopeless, and i cant see any short pipes for this to fit onto

i could do with knowing where all 3 pipes from the tank go, as this might be the cause of my overal problem of not starting
thanks again

It will go to one of the manifold rubbers. look at the back of the cylinder head on the black bits that connect it to the carbs one should have a pipe coming out, and this will be why your bike doesnt run.

Put a little smear of engine oil on the rubbers.

Try putting your fuel tap to the prime posistion. to do this you might need to remove the small screw you can see on the front of your fuel tap. Then turn the tap as far as you can clockwise.

First, did you hook the vacuum line from cyclinder #1 to the fuel tap? Second, have you checked the vacuum line for leaks? Third, have you checked the fuel filter in the tank to make sure it's not clogged with rust?

I have it going now and fuel is flowing through, but this is when the petcock arrow is pointing up, nothing comes out in reserve?

You need the vacuum line connected from the back of the fuel tap to the inlet rubber for it to work on reserve.

thanks

can you confirm how the petcock works on your bike

Mine seems to be

arrow point up = open
down = Closed
to the front on bike =Res

this sounds the wrong way round?
