Alternator bearing
« on: May 11, 2005, 01:38:10 PM »
I purchased my Bandit about 3 weeks ago.  Very low miles and babied.  Developed a vibe rattle coming from the alternator after about 500 miles.  Does any one know if it can be rebuilt and if so where a person could get the parts.

Find a local alternator/starter rebuild shop.  I have a local guy I've taken boat, watercraft, car, and cycle starter/alternators to and he rebuilds them in a day.  The cost is normally under $75.

:thanks: I doubt I will find one in this area.  I am from Whidbey Is.  Moved this hell hole a couple years ago after college to get work.  Long to be back in your area.  Although if want a twisty road WV is #1  Take them to fast and you will rear-end yourself.

You should be able to find an electrical shop in the larger population centers, even in WV... I hear they've had electricity for >20 years now... at least in the bigger towns.

If it's just a bad bearing, you should be able to find a replacement from a bearing store or industrial supply.

Been real busy.  Mech at the shop said "that will be a good winter project".  I thought to myself, yea, like I am going to wait that long.  I ride it everyday, no increase in vibe.  Guess I'll get to it this winter.
