headlights failed -- then came back

I had a bizarre issue this morning when my headlight and my highbeam failed.

So at lunch I went out to the store to pick up some new H7's, thinking it was mighty strange that both lights failed at the same time. When I came out of the store with my purchase both lights were working again.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this would happen?

Other details I can offer:
-I last rode Friday
-it rained Saturday and then got cold on Sunday, dropping to the freezing point early Monday morning
-I park on the street at home, in underground garage at work
-The telltale light on the dash wasn't working either.

Wonderful, an intermittent electrical problem, just what I always wanted...
