Headlight dims when bike is revved.

Same as above, the headlight dims and then stays constant if the bike is revved above idle. It is brighter at idle but flickers. Is this normal?

No, it isn't normal.

If your battery is in good shape, your regulator/recifier unit is going stupid.

Normal would be either no change, or a slight increase in brightness once it comes off idle.

I agree my R/R did the same thing when it died. However I didn't change it out fast enough and it also fried the stator. Don't ride the bike too much or it will start frying other stuff. Get a new one on there after getting it checked out ASAP.

Although I have not heard about many charging issues with the Bandit, Suzuki has been weak in this area in the past. The GS bikes have  charging systems prone to problems.

If this is an issue on the Bandit, another solution is to not replace the stock unit. Several aftermarket companies make quality replacement parts. Electrix, Ricks, Electrosport all make better than stock components and are well known in the GS bike circles.

Good Luck, Ed.

Yes Paul,you are right!
I just replaced the regulator today(5 cords with radiator fins), and all the symptom (Nick described) are gone, just unbelievable. I change batteries several times, presumed battery problems, because every time I test the charge while engine idle, it indicate OK, today I test it when  gave it throttle, no charge at all.
lately, I found my B4 has a resonence come from cylinder cover, it come out when engine rev is around 3k-4k, sounds like timming chain noisy, below 3k it is OK, I intend to check on the chain retainer, any one know about the retainer, can I adjust it on board engine? or should I get it off the engine?I found a small rubber plug on the retainer, what is that for?
Thanks everyone.

For the record I have bought 2 stators and a Reg/rectifier from Eletrex ALL WERE DEAD OUT OF THE BOX. Do not buy from that company unless you love mailing shit back and forth for warrenty repair. I gave up eventually and got one of the least crappy stators sent to me re-wound.
