fmf megabomb exhaust system
« on: February 13, 2007, 05:44:35 PM »
last weekend someone showed me the fmf exhaust system for crossmotors

well...   i'll let the fmf site itself do the marketing talk

summary is they say it:
- Effectively Reduces Sound Output by as much as 1.5dB
- Produces Low End of a Long Header and Top End of a Short Header exhaust system

since im interested in technology i was wondering if someone has any experience with this system
this site and this site are positive about it and the official ktm (cross)raceteam uses them

they say its patented so i tried finding the patent but i couldnt find it
i found an "cut-through" and it looks simple enough to make if youve got a spare exhaust, just drill some holes with different diameters and weld some metal around it.

i just wished i knew exactly how big the holes would have to be and how much volume would have to be added (however on the site they say, the more volume the more power), so i could maybe make 4 of those magebombs on my exhaust

anyone have any thoughts about this system? or know some sizes or knows the patent?

Yup FMF has very good off road 2&4 stroke exhaust technology as I am even an owner of their expansion pipe and muffler system for my Suzy RM100. But I would never consider any of their stuff for on road or track multi-cylinder 4 stroke use, as there is far better technology out there in that arena.

the other brands dont use any specific extra technologym, its only a bunch of pipes which have optimal volume, flow and pulsation properties. and they cant use the megabomb technology because its patented (thats not to say they would if they were aloud)
and fmf doesnt make multi-cilinder exhaust (as far as ive seen)

its good to hear their 2-stroke exhausts perform good, cos it prolly means their 4 stroke exhausts aint bad either.

but saying there is far better technology without a good explanation doesnt do it for me  :stickpoke:
