Baffelectomy??
« on: July 08, 2008, 09:12:20 AM »
When I had my Concours a "baffelectomy" was recommended over on the COG site....Take a three foot piece of sharpened rebar to the ass end of the exhaust and whack it a few times for better air flow and a hair more sound.  I did it to my Connie and was pleased with the results.  Anyone try that with a stock can on B12?

It's been done.  :thumb: Not much of a performance increase, but it'll sound healthier. The mid pipe is also restrictive, and it's baffles can be removed, too, but it's usually not the easiest work on a used bike since the baffles get harder with age.

On a first generation (1G) B12, you can also replace the stock can with one from a RF900.  These are less restrictive (and a little louder), but do nothing about the mid pipe issue.

The B12's will see a much bigger jump in power with jetting tweaks since the factory jetted them so lean... and if you add an aftermarket slip-on that comes with a new mid-pipe, you'll REALLY wake it up!

So is it the same style procedure to do a Baffelectomy on a Bandit?
I have an '08 1250 and it is way to quiet. Need to be heard by the morons in cages.
Once I thought I was wrong...but I was mistaken.

With the 1250, it may be a little more difficult since the mid pipe is welded to the can and you have a cat burried in there somewhere, too.
