Radio Communication

Does anyone know an inexpensive way to communicate by radio to another bike or to a passenger?  Is it possible to use those 2 way GMRS radios from Radio Shack?  How would I monitor inside my helmet ( I usually ride with ear plugs)?  In September I went on a 3 day trip with another rider and it was a great trip but would have been better if we could have communicated other than by hand signals and horn.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Wind noise can be a problem at freeway speeds - but that seems to be something even some of the dedicated systems suffer from.

I tried a few radios on the Bandit, and didnt' have much luck.
 Wind noise is a problem, both hearing it, and picking up on the mike.
  You can get aftermarket helmet headsets that will work with a common FRS radio.   That's probably the cheapest route to go.  Buy one at walmart.
  Autocomm?  Motocomm?  Something like that.
