Yeah, we are planning to go back down there in the spring and if all goes well maybe we can try one or maybe both of those places while we are there. We are planning Memphis in May and there should be plenty of it down there then.. You don't by any chance know the addresses of either of those places do you? I could plug it in to my GPS and it will ride me right there
Well, as I said, I judge BBQ based on how the meat tastes before it has sauce, and the variety of side dishes. So my top two recommendations are:
Germantown Commissary--located in an old general store next to the railroad tracks in the heart of historica Germantown. Great onion rings, banana pudding is a must. The website has hours, locations, etc.
http://www.commissarybbq.comThree Little Pigs--Really ggod BBQ, make the best BBQ nachos. Not as many side-dishes, but they do have breakfast. Visit the website for info at

On the other hand, I have never been a real fan of the Rendezvous (downtown, across the street from the Peabody), but the readers of Southern Living magazine just voted it the best BBQ in the south. Along with Corky's this is the place all the guidebooks send tourists to. So I suppose I need to give it a fresh look.
However, if you've not tried Bigfoot Lodge (burgers and similar food), I recommend it. Try the 4-pounds of beef Sasquach burger or the 17-scoop Yeti ice cream sundae! There are alwasy a few motorcycles parked out front...we went there on New Year's Day. See their menu and directions at

PM me next time you plan a ride down this way and we'll meet up. Be great to see the big 1250, too!
