2005 1200s service or repair manual available anywhere?

I can't even find a 2005 manual on the Suzuki site -but maybe I dont know where to look. And I certainly can't find the Clymers or other brand book for 2005.

I'm usually pretty good at this searching stuff but I'm stumped :-(

It was recommended to me that the first "mod" I attempt could be putting some stainless steel brake lines on the bike from Holeshot... so I need a coupla things and I guess I need the manual :-)

Any other great "mod" recommendations for absolute beginners? Maybe I should post that as a separate question... Kind of an easy list working up to harder....

For privacy's sake I don't mention names - but I want to thank you folks that have been kind to me and helpful. I wish some of you lived in my area (I live 30 miles N of NYC).

A manual for any 2001 or newer 1200 will suit you just fine. There are only some very minor changes from 2001 to 2005. The most you would ever need (beyond the 2001 manual) is a wiring diagram supplement for a 2004-2005 model.

In 2002 the clock moved from being a selection in the speedo with the odo/trip meters to sharing space with the gas gauge. Mid '02 models got new piston part numbers to cure the oil consumption problems some '01 and early '02 models suffered from.
In 2003 there were no mechanical changes from the late 2002 model.
In 2004, a passing switch and 4-way flashers were added along with the headlight shutting off when the starter is engaged. 2004 also saw the muffler and mid-pipe become one piece instead of two and California models got an exhaust catalyst.
In 2005 there were no mechanical changes.

Other than those things, they are the same.

What's the best place to look - and how come Suzuki doesn't sell them?

Suzuki DOES sell them. I had no trouble finding it at Ron Ayers Motorsports - a discount source for OEM Suzuki parts & accessories.

...and I quit looking after the first 2.5 pages of 5 pages of returns searching E-Bay for "Suzuki+Bandit" - but noticed there were still plenty more listed.

The first one from Ron Ayers is a 2001 model year - I don't want that.
The rest have to be shipped from England and that takes too long.
The remainder are Clymer and Haynes manuals which I also was told are not what I want.

So basically there is not a single source for a manual in the U.S. for a recent model year - like I said.

You have to wonder why that is exactly?

I'm sorry - but I just don't want a 2001 manual for my 2005 bike - and of course I could get the Clymer and Haynes manuals - I knew that. But every single person I talk to  - even going back to when I owned a Vulcan - says NOT to get those.

So basically I am getting nowhere with this question. I'll keep digging around on some other forums I guess.

I do appreciate your taking the time - but it isn't exactly what I would prefer if I can find choices.

Suzuki hasn't printed a newer manual because there isn't a need for it, as I explained when I stated the differences between a 2001 model and a 2005. Ron Ayers' page doesn't list the supplements that are available, but you may be able to source those from them with a phone call, or from another Suzuki dealer. I know there is a supplement for the naked B12's that covers what is different on them from the "S" model, so I'm going to assume there's a supplement available that covers the minor differences (mostly a new wiring diagram) for the 2002 and 2004 minor changes.
FWIW - Ron Ayers does indicate the 2001 service manual p/n is a superceding part number, so it may inculde updates.

For 99.9% or the work you would ever do on a 2005 model, the 2001 service manual - without supplements - will suit you perfectly.

As for shipping taking a long time to get from the UK to the US... I don't think so. I have ordered a parts CD from one of those E-bay sources and my CD was here in a week. I have also ordered hard parts from UK sources with similar results.

I can't speak for how good/bad the Clymer or Haynes books are as I haven't seen their B12 books. I use a Suzuki book. I do know some folks here have them and seem to be pretty happy with them. The Clymer & Haynes books in those links are in the US, should you want to go that route.

I got a Haynes book for my 600 Bandit that covers up to 2001 - 1200's.  When I sold the 600 the buyer did not want it so I kept it as a companion to the 2001 Suzuki 1200 Manual "terrebandit" let me make.  I use the two together - sometimes the same picture from a different angle makes more sense.  Haynes also has a ton of good information about "general" maintanence - you really can't go work having one.  All this to work my my 2005 - 1200s.

With that said... I will probably buy a 2005 Suzuki OEM manual if one becomes available but I'm not in any hurry... gotta RIDE!!!!  There are enough maintenance links on BanditAlley to probably never need a manual.
