Where are Conti Road Attacks made?
« on: April 17, 2008, 06:23:27 PM »
I just purchased a set of Road Attacks for my B12 and read the sidewalls only to find the front tire was made in Korea, the rears made in Europe. Does this sound right ?
Are there counterfits coming out of Asia for the same brand I've been buying for over a decade ?

 :thanks:

I noticed the same thing when I threw a new set of Conti Road Attack tires on my bike last year. The front clearly shows it was "Made in Korea" and the rear displays "Made in Germany." I thought it was odd and questioned it, however, I was also in dire need of a new set of tires. The originals had already clocked over 11K miles on them. Anyway, my Conti's now have over 4K miles on them and seem to be holding up well. I don't notice any difference between the tire made in Korea or the one made in Germany, other than the lettering on the sidewalls. IMO, they're a huge improvement over the original Michelin Macadams!

I have a new set of Contis on mine, I'll have to check them today to see where they came from. I imagine they probably have a plant in Korea and probably save $ on labor. Here in Erie, GE was huge, now its a small plant compaired to what it was and they have moved some plants to Mexico,China.

I spooned a set of Road Attacks on mine today. The front was made in Korea and the rear was made in Germany...the dates on the tires are within a week of each other though.

Put about 40mi on 'em tonight...I like 'em so far.
