Fast Larry's site has been hacked
« on: January 31, 2006, 12:40:10 AM »
So I clicked over to Fast Larry's Bandits-R-Us site and it appears to have been hacked.

Why do people do this?

Nope.  Not smoking anything.

When I click on the Fast Farry's Forums I see them for a split second and then my screen changes to a closeup photo of someone's face with a flag symbol on top of their eyeball.

There is a message written in a a foreign language printed across the screen near the top.

At the bottom of the screen there is another message. It reads as follows:

HACKED M&D TARAFINDAN HECKLENMİŞTİR...

KRAL_MEMO@HOTMAIL.COM
İSTİKLAL MARŞIMIZI DİNLEMEK İÇİN LÜTFEN (PLEASE) 20.SN BEKLEYİNİZ.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm going to run my virus program and see what happens.

Yeah, Bill...  Now that you pointed me to the forums...  It looks like something did happen.
The forum title is M&D TARAFINDAN HECKLENMİŞTİR.KRAL_MEMO@HOTMAIL.COM

We can email Larry over at Max Zuk and ask...

but it looks like the forum board is using an old version of phpBB 2.0.8, which is  11 versions old...  The current is  2.0.19

I really doubt the forum is used much there since it hasn't had a post since Jul/2004....  It looks to be just a side line to the main site Banditrus.com...  But the outdated phpbb version explains the board hack, that version is missing all the secuirity updates that have been done in the last 11 phpBB upgrades.  Since the forum isn't used, it may not be worth the effort to correct an unused portion of the site.  Obviously, it's not affectig anything but the title of the forum...  The rest of the site looks peachy fiine..

You'd have to ask Larry to know for sure...
That's just my technical opinion...  from doing work with phpBB boards...

Thanks for clearing the orig post up up some....
I see what you're talking about now...
Mike :)
