suspension suggestions...non bandit
« on: June 13, 2009, 11:22:18 PM »
So I thought I would ask here as well as other forums because well...this one is my favorite!
I'm trying to come up with some strategies for changes to try during my next track day. I plan to stiffen up the front a bit, but am not sure how much I should turn the emulators by. I'm also going to have a tire pressure guage on hand this time so I can figure that out a bit better.
For the record it's a EX500 running bridgestone BT45 not as soft as race tires.
Here's a pic of the front, not the buildup on the leading edge of the tread pattern-

rear is a bit better than the front but also the leading edge is getting pulled

any suggestions/comments appreciated.

As far as suspension changes, I would try one thing at a time and it might help to take notes. try turning it down maybe a couple turns just to se the difference it gives you.(I'm no expert,I'm experimenting too) Last time out on the track I tried sftening my front preload a bit and it helped over the rough turn 4-5. I still was'nt getting any front end dive, but I'm trail braking hard into the turn either.I like to get my speed srubbed off and back onto the trottle early. If I was out to win something and cut down lap time I'll try coming in farther.
As far as tire psi., it depends on the tire. I'd try starting with your tires, maybe 30-29front, 29-28 rear. Thats what I ran on the 208 gp s.But now I have a set of 003 s on the SV and I'm running 28 front 26 rear. Thats what was recomended for that tire. I bought them at the track from Mize Motors (Quinten)You could check for a web site under that name and ask his advise. He sells race tires at tracks all over. :beers: Dan
