Getting the B12
« on: May 06, 2005, 12:44:29 AM »
I went back to the dealer today and had my final round of dealing with him on the 05 B12. I got him down to $6900 and he will do the complete 600 mile service including valve adjustment for $100. He also will go to a dealer 200 miles away to pick up the bike as he doesn't have one currently at his site. Should be here by the middle of next week, and I can't wait. Thanks for all of your replies and advice :thanks:

good on you red beard.Down under in N.Z the suzuki agents are  ssuper aggressive whenpricing new compared with other models.my 2004 12oo comes from suzuki n.z with scorpion pipe hugger and full lower fairing and retail at 13995,but they have been doing a promotion on new naked b12s for 10995 which they describe as English speced whatever that means so9 they have no fairing at all ,what exact model is yours? has it got that blue and white tank

Slo, yes it is the one with the blue and white color scheme. It has the upper fairing, but not the lower. Dealer called me today to let me know he will be going to get the bike this weekend, and I will be able to pick it up on Monday! I'm counting the hours.

Hey RB,

I saw the blue & white today in person, you lucky dog! That is my favorite color for the b-12 that I have seen yet! The other bandit color that drives me nuts is the RED that the first gen b6 wears.

Congrats all over, very pretty bike!

Where was this deal at.  I could not get a dealer to sell one.  If he did not have it, he did not have and that was it.  Had plenty of HD want-a-be's.  I am thinking of buying new.  I have a 97 B12 and a 86 cj7 that I am selling and the two will cover the cost (at what you paid).

I live in Bismarck, North Dakota. The dealer is our local Suzuki/Polaris dealer. I found a dealer in Fargo ND(200 miles from Bismarck) that would beat my local dealers price. My local dealer no longer had an 05 and couldn't order one from Suzuki because his annual order alotment had already been filled. When I told him that the Fargo dealer had one and would sell it for $6900, he said he would get ahold of them and see if they were willing to do a dealer swap. Turns out they were willing, so he told me he would go and get the bike for me, and match Fargos price. That is going the extra mile(or 400 miles round trip) for your customer as far as I'm concerned. North Dakota is filled with really friendly and down to earth people, and this type of story isn't that unusuall here. Our winters are pretty extreme, but other than that, this is a great place to live and raise a family. Well anyway, enough plugs for ND, that's how I got my Bandit.

Yea I have heard nothing but good things about ND except maybe your winters.  But then that was from folks that think 30 is cold.  The colder the better, although I am not sure I would ride 12 mo. up there, but maybe, I rode the winters in MI.

I am from the NW and moved to WV for employement.  I am a geologist and unless ya have a PHD in the NW employement is like winning the lotery: can be done but luck is the key.

Friendly dealers, is that an oxymoron, ya know, like naval intelligence or civil war.  I bought a low milage used 1200 because of the dealers down here.  Went to every dealer in 100 mile radius and could not get anyone to talk to me about a bandit or similar bike.  As soon as I said I did not want a 12 ft cruiser HD want-a-be they or 4wheeler they walked away.  I was even considering a dual sport, na we do not sell those.  Were talking someone 50 years old.  So it could be assumed that if the interest was there then the deal could be made, not just some young kid dreaming.  Not that there is anything wrong with being young and dreaming, I wish I was.  But not many young people have the cash to purchase or even the credit.  So I bought the used one.

Every cliche you here about WV hilibilies is not only true but undertrue (if there is such a word).  If it were not for WV the mobile home industry would go under.  I think 3/4 of WV is trashy single wides.

But if you like twisty road, their Interstate twist more than your county roads.  There are places you can not do 70 on the interstate because of the curves.

But like I said I am thinking about going new.  Got such a deal on this I can turn a profit and out of pocket money would not increase that much for a new one at that price.  Here they want over 8K.  Been thinking of moving in to the Yamaha YZF-R1.  Sounds like a monster of a machine.  Have not slowed down yet and do not plan on it.  It cant make my hair go any grayer.  180 bhp yep that sound good.  Fuel inject throttle body, no more flat spots.  But then I have to travel out of state to see one.  Maybe ND.

Enough yabbering
