B-King to make production?
« on: April 15, 2005, 12:08:56 AM »
Remember the Suzuki B-King show bike from 2001-2002?

250hp supercharged Hayabusa motor, heads-up display helmet, telematics, fingerprint recognition, remote diagnostics and other advanced concepts. The advanced telemetry and inbuilt computer of the concept bike could communicate with the local Suzuki dealer and the bike was capable of self-diagnosis. The wireless connection could also link to the internet for traffic and weather information and the bike could also read and send email. Starting the concept bike was not done with a key - the B-King had fingerprint recognition, making it harder to steal than a bike with a key. The anti-theft aspects didn't end there. If someone attempted to steal the B-King, it would dial your mobile phone, allowing you to converse directly with the person tampering with it via a speaker and inbuilt microphone. In addition to conversing with said thieves, you could flash the lights and sound the horn at will, and if that didn't deter them and they trucked it away, you could track its travels using the GPS system.

Well, it's looking like a version without the blower and all the fancy electronics is going to actually make production - possibly as soon as '06. The blowerless motor is rumored to produce ~175hp and displace ~1500cc.

I realize the blue one is just an artist's concept, but it doesn't seem to show a pillion seat, so why does it need grab handles and pass. pegs?
As for the bikini fairing, I like the blue one's better than the original.  :bigok:
20 large does sound a bit steep though...

My bet: more BHP than an R1 (but less than the new GSX-R1000) and a lot more torgue than the MT-01.

Price: about $ 19.000,-

Mario

ps.: if Im right, do I win one?  :congrats:

If you read the link, it said:

Quote
Suzuki showed the machine in the UK specifically to canvas opinion as to whether the bike should be produced - a staggering 96% said they wanted the bike to be made available, with 50% of those opting for a non-supercharged, 175 bhp version at US$20,000 and 50% wanting the supercharged 250 bhp version for US$30,000. It’s unlikely that any of the 50% who wanted the 250 bhp version will not consider the cheaper version, but those figures might not have worked the other way around.

Since this survey was in the UK market, and they sell bikes for more than the same model in the US, I imagine it would be several thousand under the above mentioned $20K - if it makes it to the US market.
Example, in the UK the Hayabusa has a MSRP/RRP of £8,649 which is $16,372.47 at today's exchange rate, yet the US MSRP is $10,999

That thing is awesome. One thing though, they have that ugly-assed SV type fender on it. If the rear of the bike had integrated tailights like the new GSXR 1000 the tail would look alot better. I assume that it would have dual exhaust. That pipe on just one side would look stupid. Kinda reminds you of a Bandit crossed with a V-Max. I hope they make it to the States. :beers:
