I just do not get why everyone on a bike think they need to wave at each other.  I do not drive down the road in my car waving at everyone else in their car.  I mean I ride a bike because I like to be alone and not have all the distractions that come with a car.  What really gets me is the fact that when I am on my way to work early in the morning there are very few bikes out, because all of the posers have theirs parked in the garage, and these people are like me they don't care about me riding to work either.  Go out on a weekend and every weekend warrior is out waving to all that ride by.  Stop the waving

That's funny...  I find that FAR more weekday bike commuters wave than weekend warriors.  It's like an acknowledgement that we're NOT just weekend warriors...

Eh.  You're trying to account for human behavior using logic, and people are anything but logical.  Some riders wave at every passing motorcycle.  Some riders won't wave at anyone.  Some riders will wave from a thousand yards away on a split freeway.  Some will only wave at others who ride HDs.  There are days I wave at everyone, and days I don't want to wave at anyone.  Heck, I've had bicyclists wave at me (and yes, we're still talking the low-peace sign thing).  I've had riders wave at me when I'm in my car, which I have yet to figure out.

Do what feesl right to you, and don't worry what others do. Since these people don't know you, a wave, or no wave, is neither personal nor truly meaningful.

It's not at all uncommon for certain types of cars to wave at others of the same type though.  For example, Jeep drivers (especially CJ & Wrangler types) wave to each other and I find when I'm driving my MINI Cooper, other Coopers will wave, too.

As I'd expect, considering the rarity of Chevy Pintos - even when they were new.  :trustme:

That's funny, I thought Ford made pintos.  Chevy made that other little exploding car. :yikes:

odd in my experience it's the posers and as we call them 'credit' card bikers that don't wave. But I get your point, guess it's a bit like truckers flashing their high beams to let each other know it's okay to pull in.... sometimes it's just nice to have some camaraderie, even though I usually like mine from the inside of a helmet.

For the few of us that have been riding for 45+ years, waving started as recognition to those few and far between fellow bikers on the road. We were the rebels of the world back then.
Given the ever increasing number of bikes on the road now and the turning of the season, I too at times find it hard to wave...but I try
This is especially true when riding the St Helens loop.
