Bought a Triumph ST 1050

Hey guys

Well, after a bunch of soul searching, I pulled the trigger on a new, non-current '08 Triumph ST 1050 ABS. Here it is at the dealership:



I still have my 600S, but expect to work out a deal with my younger brother, so we'll ensure he gets introduced to the group once we work it out. I should be able to get him out to any Bandit Alley events we have the PNW and BC.

I'll still be hanging around, but will likely be spending more time over at triumphrat.net as well.

It's sitting at a dealer in Vancouver, so I expect to finalize the deal and take delivery later in Feb.

I'm hoping I can go for a quick ride when I pick it up, but then it will have to sit until the snow's gone. :roll:

Paul,
You just got yourself one incredible motorcycle.I've got a Speed Triple in 955 trim.
If you opt to go with TOR accesories,they'll lighten up your wallet real quick but SO worth it in the end.Do yourself a favor,dont even look at a PCIII if you're thinking of a tuner.Hit British customs up and get the Tuneboy.You'll end up getting one in the end anyway.No one will mistake you for someone else coming down the road either.The Triple sound like a Ferrari when you're in it!

You too? I just traded in my ZZR for an 05's Sprint ST last month! Been sitting in the garage ever since...sucks to get a new bike in the middle of winter! Might actually be able to ride it in April.... :rant2: :banghead: :banghead:

Pretty clean looking for an '05, and I see you got the factory bags, which were optional that year.

I might be out riding ahead of you this year, as there hasn't been a lot of snow, and it's pretty warm even now...with Forestry almost collasping here, I may have lots of time to ride.

I'm happy to see another Bandito going after the ST1050.

As some of you know (thanks, Ernie), I've been complaining for a very long time about the lack of a proper SPORT tourer that could even think about replacing my 1st Gen B12. About the only bike that I keep returning to is the ST1050. It has LINES and torque and Pedigree, unlike diasappointments like the amorphous Yamaha FZ-1's, overly-pricey Aprilias, and ridiculously over-powered Busa's.
The ST is VERY close to what I want... just wish it :
1) Had 100-200 more cc's
2) Weighed 30 pounds less
3) Had ANY storage area on the bike whatsoever
4) Had the proper suspension and front brake up-grades that everyone keeps clamoring for.

Otherwise: PERFECT.
A SPORT tourer... rather than a sport TOURER.

Well, even tho the motor is "only" 1050cc's, its got plenty of power (125hp) and good low end torque.

Also, it has a little storage compartment on the right side fairing, which actually holds quite a bit! Pretty much the same as most bikes in terms of underseat storage space.

As for the suspension and brake upgrades...yeah, those are needed. At least you can find 'busa 6-pots on ebay for less than $100.
