This could be a BMW I could live with. The 2006 R1200S. Claimed 122hp at 430lbs. Probably in the 15k range.

Look MA !  A new DucBeemer ! :D
Bemmer was da Mamma and then this guy showed up a claimed he was the daddy, so new little Ducbeemer wouldn't grow up without a pappa...  And everything was just womderfulll !   Except when daddy got drunk and they had  a fight -and daddy went back home to Italy. So Mama took little Beemer to the her parents place in Germany.  Where evryone liked little ducbeemer and he became a star.

I think they're both nice looking bikes, but neither the Beemer nor the Duc look like they'd be all-day comfortable for me, and that's the top priority a bike has to meet for me.

I don't know, I still think of BMW's as OLD MAN bikes.  Mind you the new K1200 now has the right engine format.....

A lot of the younger guys here where I live think the Bandit is an old man's bike!  I wanted the K1200 before I bought my Bandit, but couldn't see spending that kind of money on a motorcycle.

It doesn't make sense to me....people will darn near morgage their house to own an expensive not so good motorcycle[american made product]. Then they won't look twice at an expensive well made bike such as the BMW. Goes to show ya just how much a good ad campaign is truly worth.

I got to drive a oil-head for the first time a month or so ago.  An '01.  Slower than Xmas!  Slow to rev up.  Slow to accelerate.  Too much vibration.  And I like Beemers, but I guess my K-bike experience spoiled the 2-bangers for me.  I'd say think K-bike if you want a Beemer.

Oh, and yeah, they are often thought of as old man bikes.  That's what my relatives in Austria call them.  They're meaning the traditional opposed twins, though.

Got some nice parallel vertical 800s coming, though.  Those might be able to move.  Rotax engines.

I know the opposed twins have been repeatedly tweaked over the years, but really, they are almost as old a design as a certain competitor's V-Twin, aren't they?  Or older?  And if a Bandit is an old man's bike, please keep 'em coming!
