650 what? Are you comparing it to the SV650? If so, twins vs 4 cylinders are apples and oranges- totally different power delivery.

Any inline 4 cylinder 600cc bike that makes 100+hp is gonna have a high peaky powerband. No other way to do it.

Simply put, torque x rpm = HP.

4 small cylinders will not give good torque, so the only way to make serious power is to make it spin, ie.- RPM.

Good streetbikes should not need to see 12,000 rpm to make decent power.

For me, I am 6'1" 211 lbs. I need the bigger displacement to carry me around. Also after being used to the 1200, the 600 would definitely feel gutless. As with the GSR600, it may make the same horsepower, but the torque numbers isn't going to be the same. I also don't like the idea of having rev the piss out of a motor to get the power out of it. That is why I like the B-12.

I still don't understand....I'm 6 ft. 3 inches and 225 lbs. and my bike has 78 hp. I'm always running it in the 5000-8000 rpm range and it has tons of power there. This isn't a Ninja 250 engine twin, this is a four cylinder.

I can pop the front wheel off the ground easily and don't even have to rev it much to do it.

It sure don't feel 'gutless' to me!

It is all about what you are used too. It didn't take long before I was wanting more out of my B12, so a 600 would definitely not work for me.

I guess so. I was going to say that earlier. I come from a 31 hp. cruiser so this does seem fast to me. But I've ridden it for 10 weeks and still get a big charge when I twist that throttle grip. Hopefully, the thrill will just go on and on and on and on.......
