Can't find seat part online
« on: May 17, 2006, 11:40:26 AM »
OK, I want a part and I've checked the fiche at several sellers and the part just doesn't show.     I want one of those plates attached under the seat that mates up with the locking latch.  See, it's not on the schematic...

It's that deal you swap over to your custom seat from the stocker along with all the rubber cushions.

Why is this being difficult?

The fiche aren't as logical as they seem.

I once tried to find the bobbin on the rear cowl (the one to hook bunge cords to) and it turned out they were on the "frame" slide of the fiche.

Try looking at some other fiche frames for the part.

IIRC, the piece you're talking about is not available new by itself, it's part of the seat. If you want a second one to make quicker changes between seats, you'll need to check with a salvage source and get a used one.

Somehow I knew you were gonna say that!  And it's NOT the answer I wanted!  Drat!  Drat and dagnabbit!  Yep, quick seat changes are my plan.  From Sargent to gel on demand.

Got a salvage source I can try?  Linky?

There's usually several m/c wreckers that advertise in the back pages of Cycle World, Motorcyclist, etc. We have an outfit up here (Bent Bike) that runs two yards in the Seattle area (one store at the north end and one at the south end). They might have what you're looking for, but their selection of used parts isn't searchable online.
Hell, it's barely searchable when you go in there. LOL   So even a phone call may not be much help.

Its funny I read this today.  I have always hated bolting and unbolting my plate when i'm switching from my Corbin to the stocker.  "I need to get another plate" I keep saying.  I too could not find one on the site and figured the worst, got to find one elsewhere.  I'm going to run by Bent Bike today or tommorrow and see what I can find.  If I can score 2 DA  I'll let you know.

Hey, that would be too cool!  And I want the 6 cushions, too.  Bound to be cheaper there than BikeBandit.

I went by Bent Bike yesterday and no go.  They sell the seats as a whole unit.  The guy there said I was welcome to look thru the spare parts bins.  Holy cow!  They cut plastic 55 gal drums in half and dump all the misc parts in them when they dismantle bikes.  I would probably need to take a few weeks vacation to sort thru that mess.  The search continues...

eBay, craigslist or a cycle salvage will get you a seat cheap I bet.
