Cold weather wear?

I rode to work today on a crisp Atlanta fall morning. In the upper 40's F. Wore my FieldSheer Mach ? Mesh with the liner in. button down shirt over a tee. Blue jeans, boots etc. Kinda chilly, maybe should have worn my Kilamanjaro 3/4 length.

What do you wear and at whats temps? ( I may just be getting old.........)

I wear my Tour Master canvas coat with liner, heavy flanel shirt under that, but over my work shirt, canvas riding overpants with armour and quilted liner and my Triumph riding boots. I wear a nice warm fleeced balaklava under my helmet to keep my neck and chin warm. Oh, and my toasty warm ski gloves. I could ride in the mid thirties with that getup on.

I'll probably install the Hippo hands in November.  I'll ride with a fleece balaclava, Columbia Bugaboo jacket over my Joe Rocket leather jacket with quilted liner installed (if I can find the damn thing), Joe Rocket 5.0 Ballistic pants (just bought to replace rain pants with leak-in-crotch feature for rain and ski pants for cold weather), Olympia winter riding gloves and my trusty Tourmaster WP Solution boots.  This should keep me going through the winter when I need to use the bike (barring snow of course).

I wear thermals on my legs, then jeans and that gets me down to pretty dang cold on the bottom, then rain pants or snow pants as appropriate. I've got some real riding pants on the list (xmas baby?) which will become the new top layer on the legs. Up top, I wear t-shirt (always), then layer up with flannel, and maybe fleece if its really cold, then my leather with thinsulate liner. I put on really thin glove liners under my leather gloves and that gets me dang cold too. Then I'll throw on some waterproof mitten shells over that and again that gets me petty dang cold. hopefully though some new gloves will show up here soon too. Finally, I wear a stretchy neck-tube thing I've had for years. It thin enough to go under my helmet if I want, but mostly I put it around my neck and tuck it into my jacket. That thing, I think does the most to ward off the cold...

I layer one or two Duofold expedition strength thermals underneath a pair of First Racing sealed leather pants, with similar Duofold tops along with a Widder Thinsulate vest, and a Spyder fleece under a Cortech Magnum leather jacket.

The duofolds are great because they're very thin yet quite efficient. The layering of thermals or fleece depends on temperature, of course. The layering is so effective I only had to turn the Widder vest on twice last year.

I wear Tourmaster Winter Elite Gloves and I also plan to get a Hippo Hands (now called WInter Hands) for this season.

I wore a pair of First Gear Kilimanjaro Boots last year, which were OK for cold weather but not really great. I just discovered boots by a company called Gearne that look like they might be better suited for the cold.

I recently bought a Motoport Kevlar mesh jacket and pants outfit that have (as an option, which I ordered) a GoreTex liner, and the jacket also has a ThermoLoft liner (also an option that I ordered). I'm going to try these out this winter as well to see how they fare.

They're suppose to work quite well together, which allows you to use this setup (for instance) in cross-country trips where you can easily go through temperature extremes (something you definitely can't do with leather). I look forward to testing this out.

Rode to work in Atlanta too, today (left about 7AM).  Wore leather AGV pants, Perforated Tourmaster jacket (with liner in).  Wind Breaker, neck gator and breath diverter.  Was warm enough.  Have ridden as low as 30 F, but this requires a fleece, windproof vest, winter gloves & liners and sock liners (windproof).  Heated gear would be nice one of these days...At least the Bandit's engine is exposed so you can warm up at traffic lights!

somewhere I've got a pair of winter gloves that are all melted from my messenger days. some day syou just have to hang on tight to that engine as long as you can...

Full Face Helmet, whatever clothes (work or play), a denim coat , and leather gloves with wool insides (the most important piece of my winter wardrobe). The upper 40's and warmer I lose the coat and gloves.

bikeb4cage I think you got it right, mid 40's and blue jeans on my legs got me cold. My mesh jacket with liner wasnt bad but once the legs get cold thats about it!

This week is going to be fine as frog hair here in Atlanta, 60 every morning and mid to low 80's for the ride home every night.
Dont be surprised if you should see a grand blue bandit heading south on 75 at a high rate of speed.
