My guess is that the photog was upset.  Otherwise, you would think that he would have captured more of the "aftermath."

Most photographers -will- have caught the aftermath to some degree.  There's a good chance he was still shooting as presumably he started running toward the crash.   It's ingrained into you as a professional.

At least he was sensitive enough to not publish the aftermath if he did get it.  Or, the pessimist in me thinks, based on the fact that he's selling those photos, perhaps he didn't think there was a market for them.

That's why I could never be a documentary photographer.  I can't remain detached enough.

As to the original topic, I wear a mesh jacket, jeans, boots, helmet, and usually gloves.  Sometimes when it's too hot, I take the gloves off in stop and go traffic.

I have a leather jacket and chaps, but wear them less frequently these days for some reason.  (Of course it could have something to do with the being boiled in your own juices feeling of being caught in traffic on a hot day in leather.)  I have a pair of leather pants that I've never worn, and am thinking I should sell, cos I doubt I ever will.

I'm defitatly more daring when all suited up. When I zip my leathers from 2 pc to 1 pc. that means its time to go. But usally I don't do that unless I'm at a track.
That pic makes me crindge! ouch! She's weary sandels for crying out loud. (wich she probably did) My wife got mad once because I wouldn't take her somewhere with sandels on. We ended up taking the car instead. No shoes,no shirt , no service (well alright ,you ladies can take your shirts off)                  Dan

I was just thinking of the last time I rode a motorcycle without a helmet.  My other bike broke down and had to get a ride with tools and the part back to my bike.  Well I forgot one thing, my helmet!  I felt so uncomfortable and scared without my helmet.  I made it back, but it was one ride that I did not enjoy.

Funny enough, expect for the last picture, I would call them all idiots.  The last guy may have crashed, but it appears that he had riding equipment on.  We all know what happened to the couple in the first picture too. :duh:

The only difference is that the cruiser and supermotard riders at least are wearing full-length jeans and actual shoes -- still not enough, but one notch better than tank-top, shorts, sandals, and an overstuffed backpack.

Like I keep telling my wife when she wants to skip a jacket or wonders why I always wear a heavy leather jacket -- don't dress for the ride, dress for the crash.

What I like is that they both have expensive helmets on, and gloves, so they likely have some idea of how important the gear is.

Though I've never taken a passenger, I can definitely say if one came out in sandals, or T-shirt, I'd be sending them back in to get dressed properly.

Even a fall at a stop (my most common problem) is going to hurt with that lack of gear.  Geez, even when she's trying to get off the bike, under normal circumstances, her leg will be over the exhaust.

Stormi - have you ever rode as a passenger? If so, I don't know how you got on, but my passengers get on from the left and use the left peg, swing the right leg over and put it on the right peg, so their legs don't come in danger of touching the exhaust.

I'm stilling trying to figure out if that's a man or a woman on the back...

Possibly a preview for a new hollywood blockbuster "Brokeback Harely"?

I wear jeans/boots/jacket to work (don't really go above 40mph) and on short journeys but anything over a couple of miles and I'm usually leathers all the way. Falling off at 40mph when I was new to bikes took all the skin off my knees, I dread to think what jeans (and legs) would look like in a 130mph+ spill

i think this post sums it up nicly for me, iv been riding a utterly crap 125 2stroke for allmost 2 years. it wont do more than 50mph on a good day. having seen what biking accidents can do to the body took the idea of riding without proper protective clothing insane. i would rather not get on a bike without wearing trousers, jacket, gloves, lid and of course boots.

(theres a guy where i work who has had to have a replacement foot as his was torn off in an off at 30mph) scared the crap outa me....

I did,.. on Dita before I bought her, and also on a cruiser.  I've blocked out as much of both experiences as possible though.

I guess I just assumed that the triumph had dual exhaust like my 919.

I have a wonderful mental image of you in leather, but if you're gonna be all sweaty and icky and stuff, then forget it!

>>I'm stilling trying to figure out if that's a man or a woman on the back...<<

Good question. I resized the image 200% and opened the image's gamma up in Irfanview by a factor of 2, and "it" still looks rather androgynous. It JUST slightly leans to the female side.

Or it could be Brokeback Harley...

For all you riders wearing blue geans, that is not protective clothing. It will help against the occational June bug, bee,or small stones, even cold. But in the event of a unscheduled departure from your motorcycle,Its not going to prevent road rash, nor do they have pads in all the right places.
Just thought I'd throw that in.I don't get all suited up everytime I take my bike out for a spin or to comute. But if I'm going a ways or know it may be a spirited ride, its full leathers. They make enough different gear to choose from these days, that it makes a worthwhile investment for all riders. But they don't do any good unless your wearing them.
