My guess is that the photog was upset. Otherwise, you would think that he would have captured more of the "aftermath."
Most photographers -will- have caught the aftermath to some degree. There's a good chance he was still shooting as presumably he started running toward the crash. It's ingrained into you as a professional.
At least he was sensitive enough to not publish the aftermath if he did get it. Or, the pessimist in me thinks, based on the fact that he's selling those photos, perhaps he didn't think there was a market for them.
That's why I could never be a documentary photographer. I can't remain detached enough.
As to the original topic, I wear a mesh jacket, jeans, boots, helmet, and usually gloves. Sometimes when it's too hot, I take the gloves off in stop and go traffic.
I have a leather jacket and chaps, but wear them less frequently these days for some reason. (Of course it could have something to do with the being boiled in your own juices feeling of being caught in traffic on a hot day in leather.) I have a pair of leather pants that I've never worn, and am thinking I should sell, cos I doubt I ever will.
