Bikes on Beale Burnout!
« on: October 19, 2006, 05:40:32 PM »
We had a little excitement at Bikes on Beale towards the end of the evening last night.  While they prohibit your from doing so, a young white guy on a sport bike tried to do a burnout when his group was leaving.  He ended up fishtailing and losing control of the bike and it went tumbling side-over-side down the street, with him rolling behind it.  We were leaning against our bikes and I had just enough time to think "gee, I hope he doesn't wipe us out as he goes by" but fortunately, he and the bike took a straight path down the street as plastic parts went flying everywhere.  :duh:

He got up quickly, so I guess he wasn't hurt, but he was only wearing jeans (with tears and holes in the knees) and a t-shirt, but a full-face helmet.  The bike looked to be a little lighter, maybe a 600-750 cc engine, but he had a hard time picking it up.  All the young white skinny guys and girls with skunk dye jobs gave him that serious patting on the shoulder that indicated they were telling him it's all right, it happens to everyone, but he was pouting and had to walk up and down the street a couple times before he finally got back on to leave.  He had to give it a rolling start...not sure if it was flooded from laying on its side or what.

PS:  None of the Beale Street security or police ever walked over to see what happened, if the guy was hurt, whatever.

This guy showed lack of respect for the power his bike could produce. He just wanted to show off and it backfired.  :boohoo:  I'm glad he was'nt seriously injuried. but it will hurt his wallet to replace the plastic and other repairs. :boohoo: Two weeks ago at Germantown Joe's Crab chack Bike Night, a squid riding a customed Yamaha R1 was speeding pass people walking and others were burnung out near where my B6 was parked. :banghead:  Same scenerio or worse could have happened there too. Since then I am mindful of where I park my bike. I have'nt been to bike night since then, but the next time I attend I'm parking with cruisers or with other Bandits (if any are around).
The only thing that matters is how fast you can get from 0 to 60, because top speed is secondary
