ebay uk, darn clean bikes!?!
« on: June 27, 2006, 02:11:04 PM »
I was trolling the net, still missing the bandit from suzukis 2006 usa line up, and envying the gsr600.
So I began to troll ebay uk and what did I find to my surprise, the bikes are clean as a whistle!
I looked at yamaha, honda, suzuki, kawasaki, loads of clean, low mile bikes!!!!!
Wish I had some cheap shipping!

Whats the deal here, do my uk brothers (my family is from cornwall, I am a chenoweth) or are us USA boys just too wild and we lay our bikes down with regularity!

I visted the southeastern united states largest used bike dealer, its called W.O.W motorcycles ( Marietta Georgia) and so many of the bikes have been laid down and repaired.
Whats the deal?

I would bet that motorcycles over there are more respected as transportation and better maintained plus possibly a more limited riding season so less wear and tear?  Just guessing.

Ours are toys mostly and suffer abuse and neglect.

How close am I?

way off, mine gets kicked to death all weathers left out in the rain sleet snow and all kinds in between. Doesn't rust due to the protective layer of crap on it.

Most of the laid over bikes are likely due to a$$hole cagers   Too many cell phones and not enough awareness.  :soapbox:  I swear to the god of two wheels I have a close call every time I ride. People just don't care. Lancaster county is the worst. Once you clear Harrisburg it gets better but cagers really need to wake the fu?k up.  :boohoo:

I think there some truth to both answers. D.A. is right most of us boys in the states dont use our bikes as transportaion daily, and dont have to, we have two or three cars in the driveway. Commuting on our bikes has become too dnagerous.
I dont think we treat bikes as well, and too many squids buying rockets nowdays. The Uk bikes seem to accumulate less miles (we drive such great distances, both to work and for fun, my ride to work, when I do it, is 50 miles one way) and they seem to be well maintained.
And yes cars here dont look. I spend most of my ride watching the cage drivers, they just dont pay any attention to others around them.

Bikes in the UK are subject to regular MOT tests (roadworthyness tests) and as such ase usually maintained to a reasonable standard.

Compared to the irish, the UK seem to keep there bikes in better condition. Obviously that dont mean all us irish neglect our bikes. But loads of irish tend to go for the day trip over to england and buy a bike.
