Arrests Climb At Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

As of last night, law officers had made almost 400 arrests for misdemeanor and felony drug violations and drunken driving so far at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and the surrounding area.

Including tickets for other crimes, 1,250 citations had been written up as of Thursday night. There have been 58 injury accidents so far.

Law officers responding to a shots-fired call at a Piedmont bar last night had their patrol units smashed by a passing vehicle.

Authorities say a state Highway Patrol car and an ATF vehicle outside the Slash J Bar were struck by a car driven by a Rapid City man. He was arrested for drunken driving.

Sturgis is one bike event I have never desired to attend. Sounds like a massive traffic jam, and where do I stay? Of course I miss not being able to see the naked diseased biker chicks ( I love the smell of hepatitus in the morning ).
