Finally back on the road (The Phoenix)
« on: July 29, 2005, 01:24:45 AM »
Well I was able to go for my first ride since my run in with the Deer back in May. GOD how I have have missed riding. I had the last truly needed part come Ups tonight and had all of the bodywork, tank and other freshly painted bits put back on in an hour or so. The old girl fired right up and the only thing I needed to do was readjust the headlight and make a slight adjustment to the clutch. Still feels as if it drags a little, if I push it around in gear, with the clutch in, but the engagement feels better. It seems to ride just fine and at my first gas stop I had a guy came up to talk to me bout my "sweet bike". I still have a few things to make every thing "legal" but for now I can look and be happy that It came out as well as it did. Heres a list of what all I did to get it back on the road

R-fairing- Repair/Paint
L Fairing- replace/paint
R signal- replace (cateyes front/rear)
Tank-Replace/Paint
Tail section- Repair/Paint
Front fender- Repair/Paint
Signal generator cover-replace
Clutch cover- replace
Handle bars- replace
R-bar end-replace
Left hand switches (horn/signal/beam)- replace
Front brake lever-replace
L-mirror- Replace
Seat- Replace
Muffler- Replace (Yoshimura TRS carbon race)

New Toys
Zero gravity DB wind screen
Carbon fiber hugger
mini cateyes mounted with Dale's LP bracket kit
Spinner/Flashing LED brake lights

I also Got to try out my Field Sheer mesh jacket, Icon Boots and First gear mesh gloves. For the short ride I did they felt great.
I akso put rubber inbetween all of the mounting points in the fairing and tightened the crap outta everything that I could and It sounds like riding a different bike.
I can't wait to ride more.

Welcome back!!!!! I myself just got back on the road late yesterday afternoon for the first time since April 17th!!!! Finally got the exhaust pieces I've been waiting for to button it up and get her running. Runs good, but now waiting on my mirrors which should be here today sometime. I wrecked mine back in April and bent the crap out of the rear subframe, broke the tail light(suprisingly the turn signals held up pretty good and escaped with only some road rash-still worked), crushed my carbon fiber D & D :crybaby: , cracked the right front fairing, the rear covers were shot from sliding under the guardrail, the right peg, handle bar was bent slightly and most importantly my right leg was broken.  I bought a parts bike off of eBay the same year and color as mine minus engine, front forks and tires/wheels. I swapped over just about everything and I took my time since my leg was still healing so it was no real big push to get her back together. I noticed you got Firstgear mesh gloves. I have those as well. Great glove for the price. I searched high and low trying to find a better pair with the same features and couldn't(textile mesh, air scoops, hard knuckle guards and multi layer leather palm). In my fall they surely helped. Some tears along the thumb and the palm was worn, but they did their job well and only had a surface scratch on my thumb which was healed in a few days. I was wearing Timberland Pro Series 6" boots which saved my feet for sure, but now have a pair of the new Sidi B-One's on order.
