I parked my bike on the street to visit a friend at his apartment and a drunk driver ran straight into the back of the line of parked cars wrecking a pathfinder, a small car, a mini van, my B6 and lastly a pickup. No body hurt just a lot of bent metal and broken glass. That SOB must have been going around 50mph. First two are a total lost the mini van had light rear damage and a broken headlight, my B6 was on the centerstand at about a 45 angle when the van hit it it tossed the front of the van to the right up onto the grass and the bike to the left into the street. I think if I parked straight in the bike would have been pancaked between the van and pickup. My bike has bent bars, snapped off stock footpag, and bent brake lever, and some scuffs on pipe and engine covers (both sides). Anyway its dark out and I'm a bit angry. I'll look it over in the day light. I hope the frame and rear wheel/swingarm are ok or I'm done riding. My wife is cracking down

Yeesh! Hope you've got full coverage in case you can't malke the drunk moron pay up. Not that even that will be convenient.

Not usre it matters how you park...you can't control the actions of others, especially drunk others.

man that really sucks - Doesn't matter how bad the damage is it will never feel the same.
I hope your wife understands that there are those things in life that are way beyond your ability to control. This would have been bad, had you been driving a truck, and it's still out of your control.

Sorry to hear that! But don't give up riding dude! Just let her vent a bit,take a good look at the bike after the suns out and the dust has settled. If the bike isn't woth fixing (damaged frame or what ever) just take your time till a good deal comes around. In the mean time try to squeeze some $ out of the drunk.

Well I looked the B6 over just a little and I couldn't find any major damage.

I feel a little better about it. I've been riding every day for so long, I don't/can't even drive the cage and feel safe.

I need to order up some bars, and a footpeg. Both covers are scrapped and dinged, time for some NRC. I guess after owning this bike for 11.5 years I can live with a few blemishes.

I'm going to try and get the bike fixed real nice.

I was going to replace wheel bearings and timeing cover gasket in a few weeks anyway, now maybe I can get the drunk guys insurance to foot the bill.

Here's the silver lining in the whole thing though. You weren't in the process of parking it when the idiot hit it! And you didn't happen to be at the back of that whole procession.

Hey, Which side foot peg is broke? I have the right side oem peg,mounting bolt & brake lever from my 1st gen. 1200. I'll let you have it cheap if you want it.

Its is the right side. But thanks anyway I've replaced both peg and lever already.
