I'm an old(40) soon to be newbie to bandits and hope I can ask some opinions. Did some searching , but I see you have moved recently.

I have found an '02 600 with about 6000 miles.
It has a factory gel seat.

Owner(second) says the tires have about 40% left at best(Price of a good set for this bike).

Has a small "rasberry on the right corner of the fairing, but otherwise looks slick in the pics.

My question is how concerned should I be if this bike has never had anything but chain maintenace and oil changes. Current owner has put about 2ooo miles on it and thats all he has done. Who knows what the first owner(woman) did-maintenace wise.

Is there anything about these particular bikes to watch out for?

:welcome:

A set of tires for a B6 should come in ~$200 +/- depending on brand and where you buy them.

At 6000 miles the only service, besides a few oil changes, should have been a valve adjustment and torque check of everything in sight at 600 miles. Many dealers will skip the initial valve adjustment, but that's what the book says.

Your next service is supposed to be at 7500 miles and will include everything a 600 mile service did.

Nothing special to look for that you shouldn't look for in any used bike. These things are normally reliable and well built.

Check the chain and sprockets also. Mine had to be replaced at 10K. Not a major expense but cheaper to do it a little early while the tire is already off especially if you can't do it yourself.

I really like my 02 600S. I have about 14000 miles on it and haven't had any issues other than normal wear items.

Thanks for the replies. I will no doubt have many questions in the future. I think I am very close to hooking up on this bike.

Does anyone know if the factory gel seat raises or lowers the seat height on an '03 600?

IF you can find one, it lowers the seat height a little.
