My new gearing was perfict @ Nelson Ledges Sat.(15/50) I was able to wind out 5th on the back straight befor rolling off and on again for the kink,and had my rpm up into my power range with thr gsxr cams exiting the 4th gear turns. But I couldn't get the tires to hook up. The track was cool with a light mist/rain. The 1st practice I gradully picked up speed waiting for the tires to get to temp,and it felt a little greessy but started to stick on the 4th lap. 2nd practice I waited for a few laps to get up to speed and a light rain started,did'nt look too bad but I felt the back slide abit in 1 and 4 so  I thought I'd slow  up abit befor hitting my turn in points. I must not of slowed up enough,I came by a couple of bikes,rolled off and started rolling back on through turn 4/5 and it started coming around. I didn't chop the trottle,kept weight on the pegs and thought I'd saved it when like slipping on the ice next thing ya know I'm sliding down the pavement @ about 80-90mph. Untill I and the bike hit the grass,then it turns to tumble.The leathers and pads did their job protecting me,but still moving very slow and taking short breaths. Feels like I strained muscles down the left side of my back and bruised some ribs down the left side of my back. The bike needs a set of bars,footpeg broke,dent in tank,broken pastic.The NRC case cover did its job,and the left one should be replaced. Nothing is as bad as my ears though, the wife is not a happy camper. I think a couple home improvments will be done befor the bike is fixed.

Ouch!   At least it happened on the the track.....and you were geared up, and survived it! :congrats:

  Which tires where you running?  (I understand it's not the fault of the tires....just wondering.)

 Heck, wives are supposed to attempt to 'keep you in check'.  It's her job.
 :grin:   I think married people are supposed to live longer........it isn't because married life is so wonderful, it's from the old lady keeping the guys from doing too much stupid stuff! :bigok:

I was running Dunlop208GPs,but I've been running them and I think they maybe starting to go. The last couple times at the track,it was hot,hot,hot. And they stuck like glue. Sat was kinda cool in the morning,and they just did'nt seem to hook up. After I got back to the shop I noticed the tread on the right side is showing some wear.(but I was in a left hand turn) It looked alright befor I left and did'nt get that much riding time in. After I went down another EX racer went down in the same spot,and on the same lap another rider went down in trn 7. Then they shut the track down untill the cell moved through. Although it did'nt seem that wet when I was riding,after I went down the corner worker reported standing puddles. Also in turn 4/5 there are patches on the surface, I can't remember if I hit any of them or not.
   Ya my wife says she's getting tired of my stupid crap. I call her the "fun govener" she says no more racing unless I have ins.,and kichen cabinets are in,tile finished in bathroom,gutters fixed. I'm sure she can come up with more.

Damn Dan - that sucks.  Glad you're not too banged up.  It's a shame you messed up that pretty custom paint, though.  Hope you get her back together soon.

Ya,Now I have to call Lee(my body man) and tell him what I did to my cutom pain job he did fo me. He's down right now too, just had his apedex removed and he rutured a intestin (sp).He has to wear a bag for th next 3 months. I'll go pay him a visit today. I hope he recovers soon,me too so I can keep far enough away that he can't choke me! I'll pick up my R1 tail for now,its not painted but I'll fit it on. I was checking out  SV handle bars that mount on top, but give you the clip-on postion. (seen them in here,modi.)then switch to a set of aluminum pegs. (my feet were slipping while I was hanging off too,another warning that  should have slwed down) I also wonder now if it would have helped to back down my preload a bit?  :?: Too late to try now.

Bummer! But at least it sounds like the damage to you and the bike is minimal.

Maybe if you pick up the replacement parts while you're out picking up cabinets or tile, she won't notice.  :wink:

Man that sounds like some serious pavement sledding. Glad to hear that you didn't get thrashed too badly. Good luck with the bike.

bummer dude, i lowsided my SV last weekend too, and now i sorely regret all the time i put off buying crash protectors :(
on the upside, i was fully geared up and came out uninjured, bar a sore ankle (which was made worse by the bike falling on me later in the day when i got it home)
If i hadn't been wearing the armoured pants my left knee cap would have been smashed up good.
now its a race to see which bike i can get roadworth in time, the bandit or the SV, and there's a 97 B6 for sale locally too that i'm sorely tempted by
