I got caught in a freak storm today while riding two up. All I can say is HAIL HURTS. I've got welts/bruises on the insides of my arms. The storm only lasted a few minutes but it was pretty brutal. Anyone else ever get caught in something that nasty?

I have been in swarms of fishfly`s (very slippery btw ) and grass hoppers and they hurt alot. bad storms where my bike actually started to hydroplane  on the e-way .2 birds (they both left a mark on me ) and a cat running out in the road in front of me got startled and jumped straight up in the air .that one almost took me off the bike .and to think the cagers dont even realize what they are missing :beers:

Definately do not like riding in hail or horizontal rain.  In my time I have experienced many things while astide many two wheeled steads.  I have hit a car that turned without warning in front of me.  I've been struck by all manner of insects, even swollowed a bumble bee once (I have learned to smile with my mouth closed).

Last time I was asked why I ride a motorbike with all of the perceived risk and all, my reply was this.  "So you don't ride a motorbike then".

Any one thats rides would not need to ask

Been into a lot of showers and the occasional hailstorm... yeah it stings but i don't get any bruises.. thicker skin?, prolly better jacket  :monkeymoon:
What i absolutely hate is a surprise shower in mid-summer: On the bike in jeans pants (but with the motorcycle jacket, ALWAYS). In less than 2 minutes i'm riding in a soaked pants!! That feels so icky...

In a forest.  pretty big tree nearby.  Hail was coming at an angle and I pulled up behind the tree with the bike in the "zone" and watched the golf balls fly by on both side of me.  D@mn, that was loud!

Yes, my bike was a tree hugger...

I had a girly on the back and neither of us were properly dressed for biking. I guess that's what I get for wearing a t-shirt. The only plus side of the rain is I got a free "show". Gotta love white shirts.

The worst I've been in was an extreme cloud burst. Rain doesn't hurt like hail, but it doesn't make for optimum tire contact with the road or visual conditions either. I am a big fan of weather forecast resources as well as the Bandit.

The only thing that matters is how fast you can get from 0 to 60, because top speed is secomdary
The only thing that matters is how fast you can get from 0 to 60, because top speed is secondary

this doesn't really count, but I got caught in one of those east coast "rain all day forever" situations riding from Massachusetts to Wash DC. on my old gs450. no rain gear, arm in a cast and all my belongings in two BIG canvass saddle bags. Needless to say, it was a miserable situation. Especially when the electrical system dumped on the jersey turnpike at dusk. blew the headlight and all the dashboard lights (even melted a couple gauges). All the while its pouring down rain and my stuff is all soaked and getting heavier by the mile.

I had to find a car headlight that used the same plug as the gs, duct-taped that sucker to the front end and rode out like that. the vibes killed the main beam on the headlight at the delaware/maryland border so I rode it in on high beams. I slept for two days straight after that adventure

Back when I was in High school(here we go,another old guy w/ a back when I was a kid story) I used to have to ride my TS400 from Tech school to my home school for football practice. Begining of the season was nice, but by the end of the season it could get cold. Even rode in a snow storm (trail tires or knobbies) fingers would be numb, shield would be all fogged up. Had to slide it down on its side to stop once going down a icy hill. Now when it gets like that, I just turn on the heater in my van.

This didn't leave a bruise, but it almost took me off the bike. I was riding past a golf course about 100 mph when a golfball hit my helmet just above the shield. It looked like a bullet hit the helmet, I had a headache for a few days. Now that PA has decided to lift the helmet law my buddies give me a hard time, but I remember this day and always wear my helmet. :duh:

Never been caught in a hailstorm, but heavy rain at high speed does sting a bit!
