It's all about service, isn't it?

The older I get, the more I care about being treated with dignity and respect, and if a shop isn't willing to treat me that way - then they can eff off.

Imagine what a coot I'll be when I turn 35  :lol:

I see a lot of posts about various things on the Web and a lot of the thrust is 'where's the best deal?' as if the best deal is always the cheapest. Purchase cost is just one factor of the 'deal' and things like convenience, back-up, support and after-sales count for an awful lot but are often overlooked.

I've always been happy to pay a bit more for decent service - it's not being a mug, it's simply being mature and knowing that you get what you pay for.

I totally agree.  The hardest thing to get in to the heads of the Purchasers in our workshops is that value for money isn't always the cheapest product.  I tell them to think about service, reliability etc, and that buying in bulk only saves money if you can use that much...

Well, ya gotta cut the guy a little slack, coming from a glitzed- out HD, as he has. The Bandit has a WHOLE lot less chrome on it than HD riders are used to, so it'll take a while for him to get "acclimated" to not having to wear a welder's helmet just to look at his Bandit in bright sunlight. :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

The part that makes me scratch my head is when he mentions not wanting a "Harley knockoff" because of the "dumbed down performance."  What bike has worse performance than a harley?

Shyte I don't believe, I of all persons is about to leap to the defence, of Hardly fergusons, sorry I do mean davidson.
The V twin does have a attraction, of sorts, an earthy, rustic, raw feel. The jap V twin just don't do it for me neither, well the hardly rip offs anyway, they are over engineered to smooth the V twin out, counter balance this and that, it sucks up power, it takes that rough raw power pulse edge away, that is the V twin. Just sometimes the simplier things are the better, hey hardey has made it thus far, on just being plain simple engineering, in fact any simplier it would be a push bike.
I think I said enough, I will now go hang my head in shame, and drink myself sillier. I just can'nt believe I just stuck up for Harley Davidson, shyte I'm not feeling well at all. Maybe I should go back 30 years, relive the next 20, and have a huge memory jolt :duh: , of what is was like to own one again,,,,,, no its ok I remember now, spanners in the morning spanners in the evening spannering in the summer it. But you would think after 100 and something years they would get something right.

I never owned one, but all my buds did in the old days. A lot of scraps and brawls over my preference for English and Japanese bikes, but then I didn't have anyone else to ride with!  :motorsmile:

The 45-degree V-Twin with it's single connecting rod pin on that big flywheel/crankshaft... potato-potato and you swear the only thing keeping it running is the inertia.

But then you crack the throttle and get the blasting roar and everything starts shaking and you get that raw, visceral, testicle-swelling feeling of sitting on a barely tamed beast....  

Of course it's all a Jedi mind-trick because even with all that roaring and shaking, you're still just slowly pulling ahead of that '65 VW Beetle... but it seems like the speed is blurring your vision, except the blurring is really caused by the smoke and fumes wafting up from the mighty steed between your legs...

I don't think he means the knockoffs are less powerful than the Harleys. I think what he means is, you'd think when the Japanese started making those total ripoffs of the Harley look that they'd at least have had the capability to make some power at the same time. Only recently have the VTX, Warrier, M109 give some power choices. The earlier versions, and some are still around were purposely powered down because the manufacurers assumed that's what the cruiser buyer wanted. 50 HP 1100, 1400, 1500 cc V-twins aren't very exciting
