In the top one are you referring to the stain on the clutch cover or something else?

In the other one, I'm not sure I see anything other than a dirty engine. Maybe a little film from the breather hose, but nothing a little cleaning wouldn't take care of.

All in all, I'd say give that motor a good bath and it'll make finding leaks/weeps easier.

What do you suggest for cleaning the motor ?

I'm always afraid I'll get whatever "cleans" the motor in the wrong spot and dry out something I shouldn't.

The bottom right bolt on clutch cover is weeping.

The photo of the top of the valve cover really doesn't show, but the "thingy" that sits on top of the valve cover is weeping.

My recent acquisition just needs a little more TLC then I thought...

For that motor, I'd probably start with some dish soap & hot water with some rags and a few nylon brushes.

The unpainted "thingy" on top of the valve cover is the breather. If all its fasteners are tight, replace the gasket. Same thing with the clutch cover.
I suspect you may have some loose fasteners though.
