OMG When I had my CZ 160cc (with air filter pipe removed, that was loud to most people's ears), a Black Shadow pulled up alongside me at a junction in my village. THUMPTHUMPTHUMPTHUMP couldn't believe it was at idle, sounded gorgeous. Anyway, the way was clear, he flew up the road and I revved the nuts off my CZ - couldn't even hear my own bike till he was 100 metres away, no joke! I've wanted one ever since!
I also liked this story cause it means some of these bikes still get used how they should, it's sad when you go to a bike show and there are hundreds of perfectly good rideable classics that don't ever get used

Haha, it was a 92 model (only 1 year older than my Bandit 250) but the "technology" was ancient! Great bike though, I used to beat 125 sports bikes off the lights to about 35mph with all the torque lol

I thought they went out of business YEARS ago.  They used to be very competitive in MX.  CZ, Maico.......Jawa....

Not out of business, but pretty much out of the US market once the Japanese learned how to make a top notch MX bike. Jawa & CZ are the same thing. The only market they have left in the US is the itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny Speedway & Ice Racing market. They're still the dominant force there.

Yeah CZ got bought out by Cagiva in the late 90's and seized production. They currently just make arms. Jawa have a 650 cruiser out that uses the 650 Rotax single engine used in the BMW F650 series, as well as other cheap commuter bikes and speedway bikes
