I recently bought an '06 MX-5 (brilliant black) and was thinking how nice this would look parked next to it:

I know, it's a 20 year old design, but like the Concours, it still looks and works well. Sure does tempt me. Yes, I spent an hour Saturday at the Yammy shop!

The FZ1 was cool, too, in a funky, artsy, anime sort of way, but it's this black beauty that steals the show!

But, I just bought a car, so...

If you like the Max, be sure to check out the MT 01; i'm pretty sure it's a match for the max in terms of grunt, and assuredly better in the handling department.

Yeah, that MT-01! That looks great to me. Been seeing it in Bike for months. We need that in the States. No fair!

No new Maduras out there, unfortunately, and parts availability sux.

*Sigh* I need to get with the worldwide motorcycle program. I had never heard of the MT-01. 110 lbs-ft of torque at 3700 RPM sounds just slightly appealing. Almost appealing enough that Id forget that the bike looks like the offspring of a buell that mated with a speed triple.

From a styling perspective - Buels and the S3 are near the top of my list.

However, I can't really stomach the MT01. Vmax's are kinda cool and timeless looking but they really handle like a turd on wheels, right?

Im in love with the S3's. They were the only other consideration before I got the B12. If they were easier to find and parts didnt cost your firstborn + 7 years of indentured servitude I probably wouldve bought one. The buells however....eh...IMO they are just a well polished version of the proverbial turd. Im definitely with you on the S3 (and most of the other triumphs) though.

I have heard that handling is poor, and based only on a 5 minute around-the-block type of test drive I took on a 20 year old but near mint condition Vmax, I'd suspect it does. The front end felt funky to me and I had some trouble trying to make slow speed turns smoothly. But I only had the 5 minutes to try to get a feel for it. Plus, surely the current version is better handling than the one from 20 years ago?

Anyway, I think I heard the MT-01 handles well.

The only Buell that floats my boat esthetically is the Ullyses. I think it looks beautiful! Too bad about the Harley engine.

We get it in Canada; however it is not listed on Yamaha Canada's 2007 line-up.

I would love to have a VMaz. Very moddable, very fast, very unique. All around solid bike. Just be prepared to upgrade the brakes....they like to go but they hate to stop.

The VMax has never done anything for me style-wise. I thought they were ugly when they first came out and still feel that way. Rumor has it, the Max is getting a long overdue update soon, maybe even 2007, and will look like the prototype shown at the last Tokyo show, pics which have been posted before.

As for the Smart, the US is supposed to be getting them now. Has anyone seen a US registered one yet? I thought they'd be more popular here in France, but so far I've only seen a couple. There are a lot of other 2-seat micro cars here though, so the Smart is not unique in that regard. I thought this one was pretty cool looking, though I don't think I'd opt for the color of this one:

As for the MT-01, those are here in France, too, but I've only seen one so far.

LIke the Bandit, The V-Max is deceiving on how fast it really is. I went 1 on 1 with a V-Max once and I was surprised that he initially pulled away from me. That stupid thing was fast. I have seen some pretty crazy mods on them as well. I saw one in a magazine with a twin turbo.
