I investigated a bike wreck last night
« on: August 28, 2005, 06:01:24 PM »
Got called to a single motorcycle crash east of town.  The guy was riding an older Honda.  Coming over a hill and ran over a large piece of scrap metal.  It blew his tire out, and down he went.  The guy was not wearing a single piece of protective gear.  He and the bike skidded for over 200 ft.  They guy has massive road rash, and a hole in is head down to the scull about an inch in diameter.  Yes, he lived

Someone is going to make a lot of money coming up with light weight street armored that is built into a cool ride riding gear.

They already are, both RJays and Dririder, down here in Oz have them on the market, I've had my RJays jacket for 2 summers now, it's great.
But the new Dririder 3 season jacket is the ducks nuts. even comes with its own :bigok:  hydration pack.
Foot loose and fancy free.
Looking for adventure and what ever comes our way.

I went on a weekend trip over one of our scenic mtn passes.  Tons of bikes out (I was driving my diesel p/u with a camper so slow speeds for me).  Its interesting on who wears gear.  Sport bikes and sport touring/naked (VFRS, Bandits, etc) riders wear full gear.  Harley riders wear some leather but not much. Now a ton of those custom choppers are running around and they wear nothing.  T-shirts, shorts, whatever.  Guys on old bikes wear a little bit of everything.  The level of riding experience seems to go with the amount of clothes they're wearing.  Most of the major clothing mfgs have some type of warm weather mesh gear.
